StarMan

Vice Admiral

Now what a humbling thought, that is. That a number of our compatriots were innocent little babes when we first signed up.

I got into Star Trek via going to Star Trek: First Contact at the ripe young age of 13. I then did what many of us likely did and binge-watched everything I could get my hands on. Christ, my VHS collection of TNG, DS9 and VOY consumed an immense wardrobe. Streaming everything via Chromecast nowadays does give a real sense of "Living In The Future".

I joined this site at the age of 18 - Jan 2000. In the olden days I got permanently banned twice, (When in doubt, send cutesy presents to Administrators overseas to get back in the good books)I moderated the Enterprise forum and this one. A bit checkered; I was in a bet with someone called Rob Hal to be the first Rear Admiral (4000 posts). How you guys do it nowadays I'm suitably impressed when the six figure mark has been hit. I think when I was a boy it was an ego thing. So much has changed in my life, but, this has always been a constant, whether I've posted like a madman or lurked for a year and there.

Anyway, regardless of whether I post everyday or once a year, I still check my old online home every day. You've had a big impact on my life. Are any of the originals lurking?

maybe he meant the first 2000 members? (Not counting missmanner's and RobL's 10,000 spare accounts - though Lisa was rumoured to have about as many as they had  ).

iirc I joined shortly after StarMan, around August/September 2000. I, too, got permabanned - though only once, heehee :p - but didn't think of bribing overseas Admins (excellent idea, btw!).
What happened to Rob Hal? Haven't seen him in ages! The same goes for other oldtimers like Darkening and Stastny, Gul Crapek, od0_ital, Crusher Disciple and Biotech. And what happened to Harkley's flower? And what about Freakish American Batboy? Last thing I heard was that he was going to get married. Presumably, a lot of little freakish American batkids keep him busy? I always loved that poster. He was such a gentle and friendly guy, witty, highly intelligent and one of the last originals (in the sense of having a unique style).

Saw the post, & it motivated me to post for the first time in years.
Joined in 2002.
I've been recently checking out various threads, & the site seems the same 'chaotic fun' it was years ago.

I'll try to post more, as I love(d) the community feel of the site.

Hello to all !

I came here in late 2001, then re-registered in 2002, and then the Great Crash happened later that year, and I had to start over. After that, I never came back.

April of 2000. The Internet was the Wild West back then.
I miss that aspect of it.

Started here in May 2001 in the middle of college. I got into Trek in 1992 when 20/20 was not on on a Friday night. And then I got addicted. Trek and this site have been there for me when I needed someplace to unwind. It's been a good place to spread my wings and even to come for solace.

July 2001, posted a lot, registered a dual named someone's mask which was banned, posted a lot on another board called Eternal Fleet Captain's Lounge, now I visit trekbbs to read some star trek related threads instead of the other stuff I did 2001-2005 (which was so fun). Trekbbs felt like an immersive world

I swear I was younger though, when I registered, like some time in 2000. Were reg. dates obscured, along with all old posts, in one of the board system rejiggings?

My profile says I registered as Miss Chicken in July 2001. However I posted as Sheliak for a few months before that but I am not sure if I registered as Sheliak in late 2000 or early 2001.

April 2001 here, originally as JimH and this is my third account (back then you had to lose your account and start a new one to change names). I think my first post was to comment on an obvious telltale in an April Fool news post.

hey VGR! Welcome back!! Jeez, the old original EFCL - those were the days! Who of us ex-Flaptains is still around? And what became of PX?
oh, btw, I originally registered as batlh and changed to my current name when I rejoined. It's nice to see that there are no trolls anymore and the nice posters keep drizzling back

I'm another one from the Class of 2001.

Obviously it was a great year for TrekBBS.

So far, no responses from pre-2000's? There must be a few left out there....

I joined in 2001 but was around reading much earlier than that. I was a host at the Star Trek Club on AOL at the time, so when i had things to say, I tended to say them there. I still don't have a lot to say, seing as I am just over 5000 posts in 15 plus years.

Looks like I joined in 2003, but I was lurking prior to 2001, because I was on the lookout for news about Enterprise. I finally joined when I saw someone ask a question about The Shadow (the old Pulp character) that no one else was answering.
