Charlie Jade

Sindatur

The Gray Owl Wizard
Admiral
So, I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes on SyFy, when they picked it up, and then they shuttled it off into "Middle of Night" land and I lost track of it (Same thing happened with Odyssey 5). I really enjoyed what I did see of it, and was really intrigued by it. So, I'll be watching it in full sometime soon.

So, I know it was cancelled before it's time, but, was wondering, does it have a satisfactory conclusion, or is watching the series and excercise in frustration, due to the non-ending and huge threads left hanging?

From memory, and this is going back a while, there's a conclusion to the season arc, with some things left open for the second season that never came. I've only watched it once, but I don't remember being too narked at the lack of resolution.

Charlie Jade - starts slow, gets much better.

I totally love Charlie Jade. It's one of my favorite shows. It royally SUCKS that it's not more widely known. Then again, SciFi did a suckass job of promoting it anyway... :sigh:

I wish it was available from iTunes or even on a Region 1 DVD.

And the soundtrack! FM Le Sieur rocks! :techman:

As for the 'conclusion': It confused the hell out of me, really.
We never find out who exactly the hell those guys in the suits are, or what their connection with Charlie and 01 Boxer are.

Basically. I recall actually being pretty satisfied - it was one of those endings where another season would be great but without those the show still went out on a high note.

It's also one of the most fun sci-fi series of the 2000s. I saw it back on its first UK run on FX, which was somewhat before its American Syfy run (though many years after the show originally aired in Canada) and it was great. The industrial universe of Cape City is wonderfully depressively dystopian, the plot behind what all this universe interconnection is about is pretty satisfying, and hey, it's sci-fi in South Africa long before District 9.

Ah, 01 Boxer. Now there was a messed up antagonist.

I've tried watching this 3 times and gave up twice.

Of course the third time, my dvd player actually died half way through the second disk.

That's God talking to me, that is.

But he Owan Taggart Murderporn Show would be about a thousand times more interesting than following Charlie around, hell it took him four episodes to accept that he was in a parralel universe, and once he does, he doesn't care.

^^ I remember struggling with it for a while. I think they had a change of writing team about 7 or 8 episodes into the series. That's when it started picking up.

Blues paddock?

I think that's were I got drunk as a kid for the first time and lost one of my obvious virginities.

They did. IIRC that meant that a plot that the original writing team wanted to answer got scrapped (I forget what it was, really), the most marked difference I can remember is I felt after episode eight the series really started to get an interesting handle on Boxer.

...though honestly it's been so damn long since I've actually seen this show (five, six years?) that memory may be fuzzy.

This is true. Really should get around to watching it again sometime. I've had it on the backburner for ages, since picking up the season 1 DVD collection for a song a while ago. Think I got it for less than a tenner.

I always wondered why Boxer seemed to change personalities every time he switched between universes. Especially in Gammaverse, where he suddenly became a normal, devoted family man, as opposed to the immature jackass he was in Alpha- and Betaverse.

This was probably one of the threads that got dropped. :sigh:

I'm actually in the process of watching this right now... well I was until I decided to take a break to catch up on Teen Wolf before the season premier.
And for anyone who's interesting a fan site I found through wikipedia has an outline for Season Two that was written by Robert Wertheimer, one of the writers and co-creators. I was gonna wait until I finish the series to read it though, so I don't know what it says.

Thanks everyone, I look forward to finally continuing watching it (So rude when a network moves something to the middle of the night to burn off)

JD, special thanks for the link about S2 plans, I haven't clicked it yet, as, like you, I want to watch the series before peeking ahead at what was supposed to come.

I've been watching it streaming on Netflix for the last couple months.

I loved this quirky, confusing little show when it came out. The ending was ok-but I still wanted more, as there were ideas that never fully developed.

Eh what? How am I in here when I haven't even said anything in this thread? This sounds so random.

Bugger.

Wrong fictional character.

The 01 Boxer murderporn show.

His name is Oh-One, not Owain?

I'm not apologising.

It's you who crept into my mind.

STAY OUT OF MY MIND!

01, the number. Do they ever explain why his name is a number? I'm up to ep. 17 and if they explained it earlier I missed it.
