That would definitely stop people from posting in them.

Well, she gets better results. It's been remarked that Guinan should actually have Troi's job.
There are no official rules about resurrecting necrotic threads. For me, the deciding factors are 1. how old, 2. was any new meaningful content added and 3. does dialog continue. (And then there's whether I like you or not but I can't say that.)As a mod, I never enforced such a rule. If a person has something new to add to a topic, why not let them do it? As opposed to creating a new thread, which really just accomplishes the same thing.
I think she did for Barclay on Voyager? But I never did watch the whole series. I wasn't really a fan. But I'm attempting to watch it on Netflix. When was the last time she even spoke as a counselor? Did she ever do that after TNG? I don't think so. So IMO it must have an episode of TNG, season 5 or 6 maybe. Wait: Maybe season 7 Phantasms but that was to Data. Does it count?

In "Pathfinder", she definitely counseled Barclay, whose holodeck addiction had seriously relapsed.
I always liked Troi and I like Marina Sirtis. Was very happy to see her show up on Picard. Being shitty in Season 1/2 of TNG isn’t a crime. Worf was crap in those seasons too compared to later.
Also liking the mod response to the necro.
No she really didn't. When Data said he felt pleasure she gave a long dramatic pause - switch to commercial. She said that emotions like anger aren't bad its what you do with those emotions that counts. She said anger can lead to positive things like correcting an injustice... obviously him getting pleasure out of killing that Borg wasn't positive. Her advice was crap also in the late seasons, remember when all that Data could feel were bad feelings like anger and pleasure at seeing someone hurt or dead? That's when she told him that there were no bad emotions. He even reminded her of that later when he became sadistic at the prompting of his "brother". That was really bad advice!!
