Only just found out that Sophie was considering going for the recast role of Kochanski in Red Dwarf when Clare Grogan didn't want to reprise it (so Chloe Annett got it). She reconsidered because she decided any snogging scenes with Craig Charles would be like kissing her brother.
I’ve set it elsewhere that the bat really can’t be the original bat — that’s it’s just a ‘remember when..’ thing, but what’s really odd is that Sophie still owns the original jacket, and I am not sure that is one — some of the badges are wrong. Part of it that is weird is flower child’s earring is there front and centre as another ‘remember when…’ but is noticeably too big, and is where Sorin’s badge would have been if it were the original jacket. Silly small things, but it still leads to a sense of being off. It might be the original, and just lost some bits over the years (and gained a different earring) but the bat is kind of a big deal. The VFX team at the time even had to build a special prop because it was destroyed at the end. (Pretty sure it looked different too.) We can’t have a cpl. Hicks ‘I’ve still got this’ line basically.
It definitely looks epic! We also finally have a premiere date: October 23. Not soon enough! I am curious what's going on with The Master's Rasputin look. Is that how he looks when The Doctor first encounter him, indicating that it's been a long time since he saw them (but not necessarily the same length for them) or something else going on there? Edit to add: Forgot to mention this curious line from Kate: "15 of the world's most valuable paintings have disappeared." I wonder if Gallifrey Falls No More is among those and, if so, could that mean The Curator might make another surprise appearance?
New images and a poster! Take note that a Gallifrey Cyberman is in the background of The Thirteenth Doctor's regeneration! This might explain the hows and whys of the David Tennant rumor... That would be an even more awesome callback.
So what, if the Master and his Gallifreyan Dalek’s win this time? The chamber she is standing in seems to be forcing a regeneration. But what if this is forcing and unregeneration instead and triggering the return to Tennant and who knows what other incarnations?
I saw some speculation on Twitter that Dan dies early in the episode. The only footage of him in either of the trailers has him in the red spacesuit. He doesn't appear to be part of any other scenes which could mean he doesn't play a large role.
I love the early "rumor" of the Rasputin Master being post-TC Master with an extra murderous look on his face and the clean-shaven Master being pre-Spyfall, pre-O Master and having just regenerated from Missy and has still good innings in him.... but it just sounds way too cool for anything Chibnall's ever written, and I just don't see him writing something this timey-wimey and just plain amusing and fan-wanky like that.
That could be from early in the story. Or the more likely explanation is that he gets separated from the rest and there’s yet another subplot involving the two of them.
Just took a closer look at the trailer and noticed that only that one clear shot of Africa is planet Earth. The three other worlds we see are definitely not.
He's obviously spent a lot of time in a sodding sewer... The trailer does look epic, but Chibnall has fooled us before!
At this point, this Master spending eons away while waiting for the proper moment to resume his evil work is literally faux-Moffat of the Curse of the Fatal Death kind.
