If you can stand to listen to either LFIM or RMB, here's a podcast these two twits (along with Diana 1.0) put out

http://www.axanarproductions.com/podcast-supplemental-lets-drink-to-our-mutual-dissatisfaction/

Otherwise, will just leave this little gem here

Here I was thinking it was ENTERPRISE NX-01 with the back half flipped upside down ...

The 5 year mission of the Discovery is to realize they were flying upside down. Character development, dontcha know. "Everything we thought we knew was wrong!".

Everyone knows that galactic "up" corresponds with the Earth's North Pole's slight preference of one side of the starry disk, after all.

Really? They're going to try to go ahead with Axacon? Gee, I would think the Settlement PRECLUDES Alec Peters from doing anything commercial with the Star Trek IP (and the name is part of the IP - Alec Peters can claim copyright on NOTHING related to Axanar). Is he really that stupid that he continues to "poke the Bear"?

Axacon™ if your fan-film last longer then 4 years consult a doctor...

Side effects : Narcissism, Egomania, Self-entitlement, Conning others out of money, Delusions of grandeur, Lawsuits from the actual owners of the thing...

Also : The longest forum topic on Trek BBS... Thus far...

All donors to the Axanar Indiegogo campaign have a personalized account ready and waiting for them in Ares Digital 2.0 (our proprietary system for donor account maintenance and delivery of digital items)!

Please go here: http://digital.axanarproductions.com/index.php&... your earliest convenience, if you have not yet done so, to finish setting up your account.

AD2.0 serves many functions: it is where you provide us with your current shipping information and any email changes (and make updates to same at any time); where you can find a listing of all donor rewards you will be entitled to once we have completed the project; and where you can access the digital rewards due you, as they become available.

(While there is still some work being done on AD2.0, we're sure you'll find it an easy-to-use system, and we look forward to seeing you there! :))

Re. Ares whatever whatever 2.0 private list management/fundraising and fan films:

Let's make this clear for the studios. Call it Guidelines 2.0, Fundraising Conditions:

Reuse of prior crowdfund-sourced donors needs to count against the crowdfunding total the next time around. Otherwise there is no cap on the ability to work crowdfunding for ever more donors rolled over into the lists, and thus ever more money.

Since it is logistically impossible to audit which people on a private funding list may have been derived from a crowdfunding source, the alternative is to require one of two options for any given film:

1. CROWDFUND ONLY. If you make a crowdfund, you can use your donor list but they have to donate only through the capped crowdfunding mechanism.

2. PRIVATE DONATIONS ONLY. Use your lists and other fundraising mechanisms however you like, but do not use crowdfunding. Stay off those sites for any film you crowdfund.

The following 2 conditions should also apply:

1. NO "FUTURE USE / ROLLOVER / SUPPORT OUR INFRASTRUCTURE" DONATIONS IF THE FUNDRAISER IS FOR A TREK FAN FILM, CROWDFUNDED OR PRIVATE. All fundraising must be for the one current project. No building up a slush fund or spending it on permanent real property infrastucture assets (like a studio or its business or industrial fittings). The funds are exactly for making the film. Want to build up a set of assets for a 'fan film' nonprofit arts organization? Do that separately without mentioning Trek. Want your own for profit studio atop the Trek IP value? The same, and BTW, we won't be so lenient the next time someone tries this.

2. NO OVERLAPPING FUNDRAISERS FOR DIFFERENT FILMS FROM THE SAME GROUP. The goal of the guidelines is to support small groups of hobbyists doing one project at a time, not a big production operation with a bunch of parallel projects.

The net result will be that if private donations can do better than crowdfunding, crowdfunding will be set aside until the donor list needs to be refreshed. Then at least 1 donation cycle to refresh the donor list with new crowdfunding signups alongside remaining donors will occur. It should keep the donation level around the cap so long as the film maker is using crowdfunding to obtain its cash.

They should quick label it as parody so they are protected from takedown.
looks like they don't need to because (per Alec Peters/Axanar's updated twitter - per the settlement) Alec had to rename the handle to 'Axanarfilm' - leaving @StarTrekAxanar open. And I have to say, once CBS takes a look at the new @StarTrekAxanar twitter handle - I seriously doubt they'll file a complaint. We'll see.

I respectfully disagree with this. Potemkin Pictures raises around $2,000 a year for all sorts of over-lapping productions, costumes, makeup, set upkeep and repairs, as well as modifications and improvements. We have always clearly spelled out what donations have been received and what they have been spent on. The amount donated does not cover the expenses; it never has. It just helps defray them. The difference is made up by my wife and myself, and by cast members, some of whom purchase their own costumes, makeup and props. Of course, we're probably the smallest budget of all fan films, but such a rule would be devastating if we couldn't spend the funds collected on a variety of productions (and we have several in various stages of production at any given time) and our studio needs.

My thought here was wrt/ the studios allowing one group to run an unlimited number of parallel separate 100k fundraisers for different films. Imagine an Axanar saying their organization has 10 films planned in parallel. Is the studio really looking to support this much tapping of the fanbase at once by one operation? My impression in general is that they are trying to limit the pace of any given fan group to the arena of 100k at a time. But that's just my impression.

I hadn't thought of this wrt/ one fundraiser split among multiple productions, which sounds absolutely in keeping with the studio intentions. Any wording that limits this wouldn't be helpful, I agree.

Given that fundraising for a 100k limit/planned film probably shouldn't go on forever, is it reasonable for a group of fans to need to start one 100k fundraiser before the the prior fundraiser even ends?

I am thinking how to build a weaselproof box around Axanar-copycats so that the fundraising well isn't somehow scammed into forcing a studio ban. Just thoughts. Axanar seems to be pushing the matter already with reuse of crowdfund-sourced donors.
