CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

But the studios are really hanging firm so far aren't they - even though someone - Oh, it was Carlos in the Trekzone Pt 2 video. He mentioned he has credible information that the studios & production 'are' talking to each other.

It would be nice to see a grown-ups table established where all the smoke and mirrors and aspirations to get a studio for free and live off trek forever for free is set aside.

Long before Facebook and social funding some small studios would market their film on the Pink sheets (OTC) to raise money in order to produce their epic. It wasn't uncommon for them to pump a few minutes of trailer to get everyone excited and then dump a half of billion shares onto the market, close up shop. Months latter the stock would do a huge reverse split, change their name, bring on a new CEO with the next greatest thing.
Once people became invested, it was like they caught Gold Fever waiting for the film to release and the stock to rise a hundred fold but that was a hundred in one shot. In truth, I see Alex as a greater promoter than producer.

This report http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/star-trek-lawsuit-debate-klingon-888419?facebook_20160428 is an attempt by some nutters to stop Paramount from claiming Klingonese is trademarked - though the report is wrong... It says that Klingon was first heard in Search for Spock but they spoke it in Motion Picture for the first time with what seems to be formed sentences
That'll sink the lawsuit. The owner of The Motion Picture will have to sue instead.

Oh wait.

As much as you find it distasteful, Alec earned every bit of vitriol that comes his way.

This is the best definition of 'earned' I think I have ever heard. As much as he has benefited collectors or whatever else he has done for anyone which is not known, he has also persisted without limit to abuse anyone in his way. He has truly earned a dressing down.

More schoolyard.

I don't care about Mr. Peters or anything about Axanar or this case other than watching with amazement how much mob denial is going on here about this 763-page dogpile.

As the most basic rule of this entire site to attack the post and not the person has obviously been "summarily dismissed" for the purpose of Mr. Peters, I'm not going to waste anyone's time by reporting these posts. It wouldn't matter and I don't make a habit of it anyway. The whole thing is insidious and I stand by my previous statement that this thread and the industry building around it is just as stupid and dumb as the news industry built around the spectacle and personalities of the OJ trial.

Interesting because I think if you read this thread in it's entirety - the majority of comments ARE discussing and analyzing the posts and blogs and other public statements Alec Peters (as well as the public briefs filed by Axanar's attorneys) and other members of the Axanar production team have made since the suit was filed.

Many have also made fun of some of the more ridiculous and outright asinine comments Mr. Peters has made. The ratio of people just piling on Alec Peters because they simply dislike Alec Peters is still rather small here - but as always people will read what they want to read into a post.

I found it interesting that reputable actors were committing to it. It made me think that they had seen something in the overall story that was worthy of the respect they have garnered among their fans, and in their overall careers. All the studio-building aside, I have always felt that if they had had a dazzling moving story and people knew it, if it wasn't just pew pew, then a lot more parties might have gotten on board with trying to find a way to help it survive and avoid the shenanigans, even if it meant finding a way to push on Alec.

Well remember Tony Todd signed on because the Director of "Prelude to Axanar"( Christian Gossett) who left the Axanar feature film production soon after Prelude was released; was a friend of Tony Todd's; and Tony wanted to work with him. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it WASN'T Alec Peters who got many of these actors to commit to Prelude to Axanar; and after all this, I'd be interested to hear how many of those who 'starred' in Prelude to Axanar are still actually interested in coming back should the production ever resume in some form.

Given how Mr. Peters never really let donors know Tony Todd had left the project until Mr. Todd had tweeted that fact; and then afterwards how Mr. Peters claimed it was over Tony Todd's fee (which really is the pot calling the kettle black IMO - as Alec Peters is the first Fan Film producer to ever take a salary for his production work and treat this 'fan project' as his full time job); I would be surprised if he could get any other 'big name' (although let's be honest in that they are all B to C list character actors in Hollywood) Prelude actor besides Gary Graham and or Richard Hatch (who for all intents and purposes made a Battlestar Galactica1978 fan film as a 'proof of concept') to return.

That's what I wrote, except I used "person" instead of "poster." Are you saying a poster is different than a person who posted?

Yes, I have also written some posts pointing out that while attacking members is not okay, anyone who is not a member is fair game. So what non-members need to do to prevent ad hominems is just become a member here as immunization - with the exception of Mr. Peters who is fair game whether he is a member or not. And attacking the post is just a proxy for attacking the person anyway - people know how to play the game to survive moderation. It's a dumb rule. Apply it to all people - member or not - or not at all.

You mentioned mon "denial". What are we in denial about?

That's what I am thinking might happen (otherwise, why have a second law firm?).
"In 2016, a crack commando legal unit was sent to Valencia by a circuit court for a case they didn't get paid for. These men and women promptly escaped from a maximum security "WAREHOUSE" to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by fan film producers they survive as soldiers of jurisprudence. If you have a problem, if no one else will return your calls or emails, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The B-Team."

I would think if Paramount paid to have the language created, that they should be able to copyright it and sue if it is used in unlicensed commercial endeavors.

This whole Klingon Language is Real and Can't be Copyrighted Amicus Brief stuff just makes me want to shout: NNNNNEEEERRRRRRRDDDDDSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
NNNNNEEEERRRRRRRDDDDDSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
