CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I guess my question is - if you ask to have your account deleted and it is, what constitutes "banning?"

My experience as a banned member was that it meant I couldn't log in or post. So how does Tobias distinguish between having his account deleted, which he requested, and being banned?
That's my question. If he can't log in, then it means they honored his request, not that he was banned. Lol.
Then some dingleberry further down the thread talking of how proud he is that he was banned.

I really don't understand the point of deleting your account. How does it benefit you, compared to simply walking away?

Well, he didn't actually ask for his account to be deleted in that thread, just for the procedure for doing so. I know if it were me, I would want to make some changes to my account profile (like changing the email address, removing personal info etc) before I clicked the delete button. So perhaps he just wanted to nix the account on his own terms.

I can understand wanting to delete one's account... however I do agree with you. It's doubtful anyone was forcing him to come here. He could have just disappeared and never come back.

I'm rather new to TrekBBS (even though my account is a few years old) but I actually find it pretty reasonable here. I don't feel like I'm talking to people who are unwilling to keep an open mind.

For any 'de-escalation' to happen, that would almost certainly require that Lord Alec & his cabal act rationally and cast aside their denial & arrogance. As long as they act like they've done nothing wrong and think the outside world still considers them professionals, I don't see that happening.

No one in their right mind would criticize Tobias' work or talent, that's top notch, no doubt about it. The fact he still can't see Axanar for what it is, is sad though. I understand he put a lot of time and effort into that, but given Axanar is a toxic project and almost certainly dead in the water, there would be no shame in admitting defeat and walking away (esp. if he wanted to keep his future options open)

I have much respect for Tobias and his work on the various productions he's done VFX for, but damn.............Everyone associated with Axanar has such thin skin. You don't wanna be on the BBS..........don't log in. I didn't log in for like 5 years at one point. I'm not a huge fan of Vic's Kirk, but I have to admit the video he posted last night was nothing but class. He addressed issues without calling anyone out. People should take notes.........THAT's how you do PR.

He could have just walked away, scrambled his password etc

But nope, he had to grandstand in the lower forums. Wanting the attention that everyone who shouts "delete me!" seeks. And it's not like he hasn't been around long enough to know the TBBS has never had that capacity. He knows fine rightly, he did it knowing only banning blocks a member, so he can go running to Axanar crying foul over it.

Pretty damned sad to see even him acting so childishly. But yeah, he was using copywrited starship designs from the original *and* new timelines (several unmodified 2009 designs...) without permission as part of a larger IP theft production.

That was just stupid.

Tobias probably thought Axanar was going to be his ticket to Hollywood and the Big Time. Not only that, Axanar has been his meal ticket; his bread and butter. How would you feel one day you wake up and found out because you're too stupid to know the difference between legal and illegal work?

Especially since he is involved with an officially licensed project right know. He has done/is doing the covers for the first officially licensed German language ST novel trilogy to be released later this year.
