Indeed!

Neil

Not a lawyer (and feel no compunction admitting it, unlike Darth Peters) but as I read it, the Judge is setting the meeting date for May 9, and ordering lawyers from both sides to come up with a plan for how they will proceed during the discovery phase, to be submitted to him/the court no later than April 18 (three weeks before May 9.)

Again, not a lawyer and this is just my rudimentary understanding from a cursory read of the document. Happy to be corrected :)

"There is an old Vulcan proverb - 'Only Alec could break IP'"

"I have never drawn a salary, and I never will. I can never forgive Alec Peters for the death of the fan film."

"This is Terry McIntosh speaking for the Axanar Productions. There has been a lawsuit filed against Ares Studios. However, everything is under control, we have no need for assistance. Obey treaty stipulations and remain outside the Axanar Fan Group. This transmission ends now."

"Two months ago, a law firm in Beverly Hills filed a lawsuit against a fan film production, Axanar. We believe it was the result of shameless greed and insufficient leadership. The fan film's shutdown means a deadly contamination of their credibility within fandom. They will have depleted their supply of fundraised money in approximately fifty Earth hours. Due to their enormous expectations the Axanar crew do not have the resources to complete their film. Last month, at the behest of the CBS Television Studios, I opened a dialogue with Alec Peters, Lord Douche of the Axanar fanboys. He proposed to begin negotiations for us to go fuck ourselves."

CBS Log, stardate 9529.1. This is the final posting of the Star Trek universe under our command. This IP and its history will shortly become the care of another man. To him and his posterity will we commit our future. He will continue the voyages we have begun, and journey to all the undiscovered courtroom, boldly going where no man... where no *one* has gone before.

You Haters shouldn't be judging a supporter or a member of the Axanar team, that has put in countless hours of work and love into that project while drawing a salary like I, Tobias Richter.

I almost feel bad for Tobias........he has most likely worked harder and completed more than anyone else at Axanar......but then again he got paid.......so there's that.

For any 'de-escalation' to happen, that would almost certainly require that Lord Alec & his cabal act rationally and cast aside their denial & arrogance. As long as they act like they've done nothing wrong and think the outside world still considers them professionals, I don't see that happening.

No one in their right mind would criticize Tobias' work or talent, that's top notch, no doubt about it. The fact he still can't see Axanar for what it is, is sad though. I understand he put a lot of time and effort into that, but given Axanar is a toxic project and almost certainly dead in the water, there would be no shame in admitting defeat and walking away (esp. if he wanted to keep his future options open)
Dear Tobias,

You know damned well everyone has said your FX have been the only salvageable part of Prelude. Even if it weren't the case, "love" doesn't mean what you did was "right". I'm sure John Wayne Gacy "loved" what he did. Doesn't mean he got a pass.

Man the fuck up. Take your accolades and revel in the fact you live out of the court's jurisdiction.

Also, TBBS has banned people who worked on Star Trek for realsies.

Our producers have never drawn a salary, and they never will. In fact, executive producer Vic Mignogna personally funded the first episode and has put nearly $150,000 of his own money into the series. Co-executive producer Steven Dengler has contributed over $100,000. Our co-producers donate their time -- some working hard every day of the year on various aspects of the show -- simply because of a deep love for Star Trek and for our STC family!

We seek no return other than the joy of paying tribute to TOS -- both in the creation of these episodes, and in the privilege of sharing them with beloved fans.

Trek Continues Inc. has an application pending for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, which can be viewedhere. Additional information may be found on our website.
The STC bunch struck me as a class act from day one. Unfortunately, I can't say that for AP. I can usually spot a "used car salesman" a mile away, and the klaxon sounded the first time I read one of his posts.

Hate? No. Disgust? You betcha.

IAs an elucidating point, our STNV 2015 Kickstarter raised $50K. Among one of the donors was "Axanar Productions." We recently refunded the minimal donation back to that donor (in the same way that a political campaigns might refund money from some supporter when the campaign would rather distance themselves from that supporter). I hesitate to try and characterize Tobias' reaction to our distancing action but he seemed to me to be, well, incredulous and upset/disappointed.
