CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Nuh uh. He made the award-winning, super-awesome-amazing Prelude, and he also made the dazzling 2-minute Vulcan Scene which is better than anything you've ever seen before, and has several half-built sets that are super-amazing!

Stop saying he's produced nothing!!
Okay...to be fair - He was involved with the making of Prelude to Axanar (I would say he didn't actually 'make' it - the industry professionals that were on-board because of Christian Gossett did) BEFORE he got the 1.4+ million to make Axanar. Peters TOOK CREDIT for Prelude to Axanar (and acted in it) - but I don't think he was all that involved behind the scenes other than preening on set and signing the checks. He sure as hell did watch what any of the professionals actually did; because had he - I'm sure we'd have had something other then Tobias Richter CGI VFX promos and continued promises.

So yeah (and I have to see if Lane did post my post and respond to it) - I still contend that if you get 1.4 million in crowdfunding, and 3 years later (2014 -2017) ; you STILL haven't produced anything new - yeah you're a Fake Star Trek Fan Film Producer.

But that's just my opinion. ;)

I still contend that the 3 minute Vulcan Scene is better than anything you could do with $1.4 million in donor money. #Hater!
CBS is planning to buy my Axanar script, just you wait. I"ll show you.

Did someone - anyone - actually think it WAS canon? Like, actually to the point that Axanar had to publically state that it wasn't on their website?? WTF??? :wtf:

Or was it simply a manufactured opportunity to take another swipe at Discovery? That would make sense, if history is any indication.

For 1.4 million, you could run a million dollar X-Prize for the best ever amateur Trek script, and have almost 20x the normal budget of a high end fan film to organize volunteer professional labor to produce it, and pay the basic materials expenses for things that aren't realistic to be donated.

Do even the authors of regular Trek episodes get a million per show?

It looked more like they pointed a camera at him while he attempted to recite lines from the script. I'm not at all sure I'd call it "acting".

Admittedly, I doubt I could have done much better. Then again, I have never claimed to be an actor.

Audience tip: acting is more effective if you can move your eyebrows. Or anything else. Even a little lip curl has its effect.

"Is Axanar canon" asks...

A: Someone who doesn't know anything about Star Trek
B: Someone who doesn't know anything about canon
C: Someone who doesn't know anything about Star Trek canon
D: Literally, no one...
E: All of the above

Lets let William Conrad settle the question...

But we here at Axanar are always flattered by the number of fans who consider Axanar part of their head canon. Why? Well, fans tell us we are true to the vision of what Star Trek is supposed to be. That we get Gene Roddenberry’s vision, and that, being fans, we understand Star Trek. More over, we have gone out of our way to look like we are set in the year 2255, unlike Star Trek Discovery, which is a re-imagining of Star Trek. Discovery clearly looks like it is post Voyager from an aesthetic standpoint. And as I have said before, that is fine. TV audiences won’t accept “The Cage” era aesthetics, which let’s face it, are a 50 year old vision of the future. Discovery is a re-imagining for a modern audience and that is fine.

People...very fine people... the best...they think we are Real Trek... that's what they say...Trek is really great, really great... and we are Real Trek...it's what they say... Canon... what is canon anyway? Our film will be the biggest and best canon that ever was...its really great. You are gonna see great stuff... better than even what CBS... yes I'm saying it... better than even CBS could make...you wait.. canon will... be... honored.. in my head in your head.. canon.. this is what's this is about. MAKE STAR TREK GREAT AGAIN... say it with me MAKE STAR TREK GREAT AGAIN. Thank you and God bless Gene Roddenberry.

I am glad Alec is granting permission to every single person in the Trek world to turn away and get on with their lives.

"I'll just be back here defending this hill of wishful-could-be-originality-with-work-and-honesty that I suggested exists... you'll return, you'll see!"

This is why we need universal health care in the US. So people don't run out of their anti-psychotic medication.
