One would hope, but, I don't know. I don't have confidence that they will. The production is very active in speaking to places that are more and more seeming to have a wider 'general' population readership and that will repeat their talking points as if that is the whole picture of this debacle.Reporters are eventually going to start listening to someone besides RMB, Alec, and Mr. Bawden. Like... everyone else professionally involved in Trek.
Agreed, and I'll say it's given me a new appreciation for Prelude to Axanar and all the professional actors and crew who worked really hard to make that a reality. It's a real shame Alec Peters ego ballooned to the point where he felt he could suddenly just take over and "know better" than seasoned professionals after ONE short (but successful) production experience. Had they gone the route Mr. Gossett was proposing at the time; it seems we fans WOULD have gotten 'Axanar' proper (with many of the original cast, including Tony Todd). But nope - thanks to an ego-maniac, not only is Axanar dead; but the Star Trek fan film community that really grew over the past 15 years or so, changed and curtailed going forward <--- And not because CBS or Paramount really wanted to -- but because of the egregious and wholly disingenuous actions of one person (Alec Peters) -- were really forced to take to protect a valuable and profitable property they've been shepherding and making use of in various forms for nearly 50 years. And that's sad.Just listened to the G&T Show interview with Christian Gossett. Very good and very illuminating. It's a shame that there are people who will listen to this show and reject it as "hate" (or worse, not listen to it and proceed to shred it to pieces).
I have several very nice caps, but I do not wear them all at once.
Sorry about that, Philip. Even if I don't agree with the final result, I stepped over the line on that one. My apologies, good sir.Well I was a Vote Leave campaigner and am very happy with the result. But I assure you Sir, I am not responsible for Axanar!
If you want to label over half of the British population ignorant go ahead. Please feel free to sacrifice your own sovereignty to unelected bureaucrats if you want to, but don’t ask other countries to do so.
Yep. me![]()
Thanks. Sorry if I was a bit strong in my response, emotions are running high over here.Sorry about that, Philip. Even if I don't agree with the final result, I stepped over the line on that one. My apologies, good sir.
People are tribal creatures. That's why politics exists, for instance, or wars. It's all a product of human us vs. them tribalism. The hallmark of tribalism is to defend the tribe even if it means being embracing hypocrisy / cognitive dissonance. The tribe is always right because you identify with the tribe. Cast someone out of the tribe and then they're the enemy even though once they were friend. With Axanerds you're either with them or against them.
In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more inflated claims of just how good it was going to be because of this. And this will, of course, stir up more division and anger against the owners of Star Trek.
Sad and avoidable.
I agree, it is really frustrating that pretty much all of the media coverage is only getting Axanar's perspective. I can understand CBS/P not wanting to discuss a ongoing law suit, but you'd still think they could at least approach Christian Gossett, or Carlos P, or someone else who would be willing to speak out against Axanar. One would hope, but, I don't know. Their talking points and energy are readable to a general populous, and fleeting entertainment stimulation. Which entertains the casual reader of popular journalism. And that it is the necessary directive of those in ownership/editors that stories that engage, even fleetingly, and bring in readership is a very hard mission for reporters and journalists to work around. I have not experienced that facts demonstrating truth are as often invited by the casual media that 'depends' on widening their readership.
Which in fact is not an indictment of reporters and journalists taking this one-sided bait, but instead of the time contraints they are given by their employers that limit doing more than cursory research before having to meet the next deadline they must make or put their own livelihoods in jeopardy.
Now from the vantage point of facts and truth in what is going on in this matter there are three active players who are being exceedingly diligent in documenting and dispersing this information for easy access. But the general populous numbers reading them are not matching the numbers this production is now going great lengths to court.
And the production has some very talented people spinning their stories to the people in media they are courting who will repeat it as is to a much wider populous.
So at this point except in the court itself and with our own small numbers and the readership among our researchers I do not feel the truth and facts to be weighing in balance with the popular casual media who are looking for stories to necessarily and by demand increase readership.
Unless something changes, something much bigger than we have going on, regarding this production and the facts and truth being soundly researched and supported by the smaller group who is not courting the much more widely dispersed media outlets to get this story told.. repeatedly... I do not think, at this time at least and I hope I am utterly wrong, I do not think the facts and truth in this matter will be much sought after and will end up more a footnote when all this is said and done. As it is in the matter of the hundreds of thousands of dollars lost in that auction not that long ago.
I hate the new rules, they have killed the long form fan productions I enjoy, and its pretty much all the fault of Axanar, but messages like this shows they have gone truly off the deep end, they time in the spot lights with JJ Abrams has totally gone to their heads, and destroyed what little was left of them, it was their bold claims that got them and the other fan films in this mess.
It's fucking stupid. Really what the hell are they thinking?
The way he talked about RMB pisses me off about Alec even more (the fact that LFIM could be so manipulative & destructive in using people), but at the same time, if he doesn't want to take any responsibility for things, I think he needs to answer for a bit of this.

Axanar can rot in hell for all I care, they delusional behaviour has wrecked something I have had alot of joy from, and has kept my interest in Star Trek alive, when there was no new episode, and a new timeline, ive not totally warmed up to. To appear to be playing both the victim and the champion of the very fan films it has destroyed is so mentally confused and arrogant, that they need a good hard dose of reality and fans.
It is one thing for them not to have shared the spotlight with the other fan films when they had it, but to wreck all of them is unforgivable.
fair enough, but I have been referring judgement until the end of the process, so im playing catch up.Welcome to 15,000 posts agoYou won't find many disagreeing here.
I replied, but I highly doubt it will make it through moderation. Still, for posterity: https://s26.postimg.org/nyl3m9fsp/Image2.jpg
