Really hope this doesn’t result in yet another crowdfund to pay for the repair, like what happened with the green screen. Personally I think the idiot that broke it should pay for any and all damages, but I guess I’m just an old fashioned fuddy-duddy about such things these days.

Okay, so, I'm no handyman, not by any stretch of the imagination, but I would have countersunk the screw-heads and covered them with something that blends in with the bezel. There's no way I'd do a close-up shot of those panels.

It looks like they used (slightly) countersunk screws on the lower half of the panel and rounded heads on the upper half.
    Because...quality, I guess

If they were that fragile, they probably should have just put the protective stuff on it as soon as they put them together.
So they've made people pay shipping for this stuff multiple times, but haven't actually shipped most of them?

Are they using Kelvin Timeline stardates? So much for being Prime Timeline! Oh, right, with Discovery they have a new opponent in their fight against the big ol' bad CBS corporation. Gotta bilk those upset fans of their money.

That is my understanding. I strongly suspect a lot of these things were sold at conventions under the table. The "shipping" fee may actually be a manufacturing cost to replace them so they can be sent. In a decade or so.

So how long before Alec starts claiming that the purpose of this whole thing was never to make a film, and he said that from the beginning, and all of us are stupid haters for saying otherwise?

I realized the other day that Neil Breen has made TWO films since this whole Axanar mess started, and one of them was even crowdfunded!

The screws would be ok if never intended for anything approaching a close-up. Though HD is more unforgiving with detail, even on wider shots. But then why go for all the panel detail?

This particular hater, for one, has never said otherwise. I already know he never intended to make a film, so hearing or seeing him actually admit that would be quite refreshing.

They were using Kelvin timeline stardates and ship designs (with TOS nacelles to make them "transformative") in Prelude to Axanar.

Apparently flathead screws are beyond 23rd century tech.

Given their "quality" how is that surprising?

And the Ares inner Hull/Deck walls are made out of poorly painted plywood too.

There's a surprising amount of excess paint on the top edge of the chair too.
