Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of rock star on the rise, in which the body is found like a scene from her latest music video.

Bumping for tonight. We lose any viewers because Fillion won't be wearing Firefly attire this episode? :)

Watching, so far so good. I really do enjoy this show. I really like to fact it doesn't take it self too seriously and is not affriad to have a little fun.

Not bad, but too much of a music video for my tastes. I always enjoy a focus on Alexis, though it was a bit contrived to bring her into the precinct and have her participate in the case, even just a little bit. That sort of thing shouldn't be done too much.

Although on the other hand, I would love to see an episode where Alexis solves the case. Not just one where she accidentally says something that gives Castle an epiphany, but one where she knowingly, deliberately deduces the solution. That would be cool. I wish it had been this one. She was so upset about the singer, it would've been neat if she'd actually been the one to figure out that the song lyrics were a sort of deathbed testimony.

And so many stories these days are told in a way that would've been science fiction just a few years ago. The victim's private farewell concert being available to a worldwide audience, characters having it stored on portable playback devices they carry around in their pockets, the murderer luring the victim with instantaneous text missives transmitted to her mobile communications device... it still boggles my mind to be actually living in the future. I guess that sort of thing is on my mind because earlier today I was watching a DVD of a show from the '70s and thinking that many of the situations would've been far more easily resolved or never happened at all if the characters had had cell phones and been able to alert each other instantly if they got in trouble.

I had to check my watch near the "end" of the show and see what time it was to see why it was ending so soon. This is not the first time that Castle has had a last minute save by talkign with hius daughter. I'm getting a little annoyed by that, but nothing that makes me like the show less.

I thought it didn't have the funny. Which was quite disappointing. I also agreed the music was quite bad. I gave it an avg.

^I didn't say the music was bad, just that I found it contrived to turn over so much of the episode's runtime to musical performances.

I've got the show on DVR, had a hockey game tonight and didn't get to see it.

I caught an episode of Adam-12 this weekend and was amazed they didn't have portable radios. They were at a location where they found a man who turned out to be dead and Reed had to use the store owner's phone to call it in. Just the things we take for granted now. 40 years on, what will people say about the technology level shown in today's shows?

I thought it was excellent. You're hearing the music throughout the episode but it doesn't click until the end. And I loved seeing more of Alexis.

I want to know when Castle and Beckett are going to make out. It seems like it would be humorous for the two of them to do that in the police station and get razzed by everyone for it.

This is great foreshadowing to set up the final season arc when Alexis turns out to be the big bad. :p

I would like to see this too, and episodes like this one set up that future occurrence. She provided most of the insight into the singer that kept the case moving forward. She put the
investigation on track during her time at the police station, and throughout the episode kept giving the needed info to keep it on track.

They have portrayed Alexis as a bright capable teen, and I think it's only a matter of time until she ( probably with Beckett) works a case to conclusion. Maybe on Take you Daughter to Work day?

^Like I said, I'd rather avoid contrived situations that bring Alexis into the police environment. I'd rather it be something where she and Rick are discussing the case at home, he's stumped about it, and she notices or realizes something about what he's saying and figures out who the killer is.

I liked the episode. I actually liked Alexis being in there at the station even though it may be a bit of a reach. I loved the look Rick gave that singer's manager at the end, he looked like he really wanted to strangle him.

I guess I can believe Alexis being there in this particular case; she cared about the singer, she knew her father was involved in the case, she was acquainted with the detectives, so I can buy her going in to try to find out about their investigation. I'm just hoping it won't become a precedent for more contrived ways to integrate her into the investigations in future episodes. Like something where the victim is a parent of one of her classmates or one of the teachers at her school, or heaven forbid, a story where she gets kidnapped by the bad guy. There are so many ways this could devolve into cliche.

Speaking of contrived, I had a problem with Castle's line to Alexis when she first told him about the murder: "If there were anything to it, Beckett would've called me by now." Why assume it would be Beckett's case? Okay, maybe their precinct includes Chelsea, the region where the body was found, but surely there are other detectives at that precinct.

I wonder how many cases the typical homicide detective in Manhattan fields per year in real life. Probably fewer than 22. Even in a city with a relatively high homicide rate, I'm sure there are plenty of detectives to share the caseload.

I don't get how it's a reach for her to show up where he dad is working. She skipped class because she was upset about a favorite singer's murder.

Wesley was never the big bad... oh wait... this isn't a Whedon show... Sorry, got a little dizzy there for a moment. ;) Seriously, I'm just as glad it's not. While I love Whedon's storytelling, I'm glad Castle isn't a Whedon show.

"Don't want the hero to be the one who done it
Don't want the heroine left all alone to gun it
If that is corny, don't ever let 'em stop corn
I wanna RELAX and eat my popcorn!"

(Anyone who can name THAT quote without the help of the internet can be my personal eHarmony match! ;))

I'm amazed that it took them a season and a half to bring Alexis to the station. However, don't I remember her visiting once when her mother was in town last year? As far as I'm concerned, the only thing wrong with how they're handling Alexis is that she's too good to be true, but since it's not extreme, well, see quote above for how I feel about her. Teen-minus-angst-equals-REFRESHING CHANGE.

Lovely to see Anne Ramsey again. *sigh* Oh how I miss Mad about You. :(

It was ok, and I like Alexis being at the office, I was wanting an episode to get her in there, but I didn't think this story was that great of one for it though. I would like to see her solve a case working beside her dad, and actually get to go to the crime scene and everywhere that day and then solve it for him, would be neat, take your daughter to work day sounds like a good premise for that. I didn't like how emotional she was over this singer though, yeah she's mature in some ways, but not so much in others, that was very teenager of her.
