Aw, what's with the Terry hate on this site? I thought she was adorable. I really enjoyed her enthusiasm, confidence, and toughness and thought some of the most interesting episodes were ones that explored the issues she had to deal with as a Trill (i.e. "Rejoined", "Facets").

I think SOME OF THEM hate her because of her politcal views and because she likes to go to shooting ranges and shoot guns. Thats a NO-NO for some of our liberal minded friends on the board.

I've been to other boards, and even on this one some time back, when her political views seemed to cause a tizzy with some. Apparently she is 'rock tootin'country music fan' and, being that those are traits of RED STATES, they seem to get under some people's skin. Not mine. I consider myself just left of center.

Is she the best actress on that show? No. But is she the worst Star Trek regular actress of all time? I doubt it. And there is also the matter of her leaving the show one year before it was done to go to Becker. This angered many as well. But I must stress that these 'negative views of her political and/or lifestyle choices (gun tootin' that she is)' have not been a ringing bell. But they can't help.

She's a fan of country music and a gun owner? That's it? Has she ever actually spoken about her political beliefs, or are you just basing it on what she likes to do during her personal time?

I didn't even know that. Indeed, I think Terry Ferrell's alright, she was funny on Becker (hush, I liked that show). But Jadzia the character was a bit annoying. I didn't actively dislike her, and she had good turns (Rejoined was one of them), but often she was a cloying, cocky jerk. The way Bashir and Quark foamed at the mouth over her made it worse.

And there is also the matter of her leaving the show one year before it was done to go to Becker. This angered many as well.

Didn't anger me. It allowed her to be replaced with Nicole de Boer and the character of Ezri Dax, which allowed them to tell stories they couldn't with Jadzia, and who was at the end of the day a much more relatable and pleasant person.

Yup. The fact she couldn't act her way out of a paper bag had nothing to do with it ...

These statements are gross-generalizations. Not everyone who owns a gun or enjoys country music is a NRA, right-wing zealots. I enjoy country music, Johnny Cash is my favorite singer/songwriter, and I am quite liberal. I know people who own guns and go to the shooting range and vote democrat.

Exhibiting one or two traits of a particular group does not, in fact, make someone a member of that group. Moreover, you can't conclude that someone shares said group's beliefs because he/she enjoys those one or two traits.

I was more angered over how her departure was handled by the writers and her character dispatched in the final episode of season six. I don't begrudge Farrell for wanting to move on and do other things; after all, that's her right.

Dunno, I never really thought "MacGyver!" every time I saw Richard Dean Anderson on SG-1. He would have been a lot different than Avery Brooks, that's for sure, but it would have been interesting.

We could have been spared the mandatory "Black people are victims" episodes that had nothing to do with Sci-Fi and were obviously only put into the show due to Avery Brooks being black.

Tony Todd would have been interesting, but he just strikes me more as someone who would play the role of 2nd in command or in charge of a division better than the absolute leader.
