Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

Re: Casting the DS9 Relaunch

Bruce Campbell was offered a Trek role already (Jack, one of the wacky guys from "Statistical Probabilities" on DS9) but he turned it down. So he probably wouldn't want to play Calhoun either.

Me, I still think Mel Gibson would make a good Calhoun.

Really? I thought that was apocryphal, just because the guy who did play him bore a striking resemblance to Campbell. What's your source on that? (Not saying you're wrong, just genuinely curious...)

Me, I never saw that, even though Peter said that Gibson in William Wallace mode was a template for Calhoun. Part of it is that Calhoun's snide doesn't sound right in Mel Gibson's voice, to me....

I'm sorry, but I really can't see that at all. I'm sticking with Joe Flanigan from Stargate Atlantis for my pick.

Re: Casting the DS9 Relaunch

For Vale, I always imagined Catherine Bell from JAG in the roll. She's hot, she can act, and she can kick ass. (And she looks good in underwear, according to my desktop wallpaper.) :)

As for Vaughn, I know some might consider this sacrilege since the movie is subpar but Anthony Zerbe who played Dougherty in Insurrection I always imagined in the role. I just started reading the DS9 relaunch but when Nog asks why Shar isn't on the Defiant in the Gateways novel and Vaughn says, "You may not ask" or something to that effect, I just pictured Zerbe saying those lines.

 Wait! This is amazing! Your desktop wallpaper talks to you? ;)

Re: Casting the DS9 Relaunch

A thought just occurred to me.
I can't recall if anyone has mentioned this so far, but how about Donald Sutherland for the role of Commander Elias Vaughn (DS9 Re-Launch)?

I've heard the names Sean Connery and James Brolin mentioned for the character, but I think Sutherland would fit the part even better!

Re: Casting the DS9 Relaunch

Even though it hasn't been mentioned here yet, I seem to recall people in the past suggest Hugh Laurie as Calhoun. I've finally watched a few episodes of House (I love it!) and I think he would be ideal as Calhoun.

Better than Joe Flanigan. :p

Re: Casting the DS9 Relaunch

I don't know I just can't see Hugh Laurie as Calhoun.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Re: Casting the DS9 Relaunch

Ah, good, so I'm not the only one.

Stephen Fry is a much better choice.

No, no...not Shelby.

Tony Robinson would play her. He's usually the guy in drag.

^On top of that he'd always have a "Cunning Plan" to get the Excalibur out of any tricky situation! :guffaw:
