cast Stargate: Universe

Temis the Vorta

Fantasy casting nominations are now open!

You are allowed to bring ONE (1) character over from other Stargate series.

My nominations:

The next lead character should be female. This is VOY anyway, why fight fate? I liked Lake Bell on Surface, so she gets my vote.

Stargate character - well, I want to see Connor Trinneer as a major character, so I guess it has to be Michael. How Michael can become a main character, I dunno, I guess he regresses to human form and somehow is "tamed." Everyone can be nervous about having a guy on board who could go all Wraithy on em at any time. :rommie: Hey it's either that or a Replicator or a Goa'uld.

I also want to see Alan Tudyk in something. I know he has some new series this fall, but I'm sure that will be cancelled quickly. He can play any role but the engineer/pilot - too obvious. Maybe he should be an overbearing military bad-ass type, that would be a nice change of pace for him.

Haven't you heard, this show is going for a younger demographic. Lake Bell is 29. Ancient, really. :p

Actually, I liked her well enough on Boston Legal. And the idea of a female lead is appealing, although Stargate has never had a complex female character to inspire me with much confidence. Hell, they haven't had a female writer since, what, season three?

I don't know who I'd want to see ported over from Atlantis/SG-1.

Richard Dean Anderson would never come back for more than a guest appearance, and is probably too old. Sam Carter is played out. Teal'c doesn't have any reason to be going on some kind of mission like this (not that that ever stopped the writers before), but he should be logically excluded. Michael Shanks is probably done with all but an occasional guest appearance with the franchise, so Daniel Jackson isn't a possibility. I doubt Claudia Black would commit to another whole season of a show, so Vala is out. Who cares about Beau Bridges' lifeless General Landry?

Over on the Atlantis side, Weir is long gone (along with the actress). Ford hasn't been on the show (outside of an apparently quick bit in the season five premiere which I haven't seen), although his character might be the closest thing to the "young" cast they're going for. McKay is a great character, but painfully overused yet underdeveloped, and I wouldn't want him to overshadow a whole other show's cast. Teyla is infinitely boring, so I'd avoid including her at all costs. Jason Mamoa isn't a very capable actor, but he can be fun as Ronon (and the character no longer is unbelievable as a member of the team, at least). Still, I'd rather not see him on board, if only to avoid the stoic warrior type. Joe Flannigan is probably out of steam with the franchise, so he's out.

It might be fun to see (clone) Beckett brought with them. There's an actor who is capable and willing to return to the franchise, along with a character who is interesting.

Crap, did I really just eliminate everyone besides Beckett? I suppose there's Keller, but what I've seen of her has been painfully uninteresting (how they managed to make the actress who played Kaylee boring is beyond me).

I don't know about the rest of the cast. I'd rather see character descriptions before speculating away with fanboyish expectations that are sure to be trampled upon.

I'd bring Zelenka, I think.

As a regular? I totally forgot about him. There's an interesting choice if there ever was one.

I suppose Major Lorne might be interesting. He's not a sarcastic leading type, and what character development they've hinted at for him in a couple of episodes (eg. Sunday) has been interesting.

lakebell

The first female wise ass to follow jack oneill, john sheppard and cameron mitchell.

hmm I said in the other thread but Keller should probably jump aboard the destiny. She's young enough.

Here's a novel idea... How about NO stunt casting of actors from other Scifi shows? There are sooo many good actors out there, I see no reason to limit the pool of actors to various fan favorites.

Those fan-favorites should probably do their careers a favor by seeking out non-Scifi work, so they won't be type-cast.

She can be the Den Mother/cougar. :rommie:

Any nominees?

Yeah, They should stay totally away from any type of stunt casting and even from bringing ANYbody over from either of the shows. Make it new. That means all new characters we havent seen.

Since they want a "known actor" for the lead, why not Patrick?

For established regulars, I'd bring over McKay, or barring that, Zelenka. Barring that, McKay's sister.

And while he is kinda established, we saw so little of him that I think we can add him without cheating-- Adam Baldwin's character from "Heroes, Parts 1 & 2." I thought he was a very interesting military hard-ass type. He had some sarcasm but it was more of the exhausted, working-man type. He's also one of the few characters we've seen in the Stargate universe that has children.

I'd like to see Gordon Michael Woolvett on something. (Trust in the Harper. The Harper is good.)

I was a big fan of Sebastian Roche on Odyssey 5. I think he could make a good addition to the new series. Make him the asshole that makes Rodney McKay look nice.

Why not James Callis as a god or prophet? How about Jeri Ryan as Female CO who kisses her own clone etc bsg to generate ratings.

Carson Beckket (Clone)

Lead Actor I would like a male/female equal partnership like Cam/Sam and at times Weir/Shep.

I think 4 man main team with the usual...Leader/Tech/Warrior/ and 4th is a difficult one cause a Daniel character might suit it better than a Teyla knowning the locals character.

^a doctor on the team would be the 4th.

Leader, Scientist, warrior and doctor

Really, for Atlantis they combined Sam and Daniel to make up Mckay and split Teal'c into Ronan and Teyla

^^
I thought Weir was also a Daniel type, but she ended up filling the Hammond role, mostly.

we all know McKay is gonna be in charge, but i wouldn't mind seeing Linda and Grace Park as a pair of genious, but evil, sisters
