But of course, the IAU wouldn't like this and I'm just saying this because I like his shows.

September 2020 Update: Updated and changed some of my proposals to make them more practical and realistic. Had to remove a lot of them.
October 2020 Update: Due to religious reasons I no longer watch Danny Phantom and The Fairly OddParents.
Any thoughts on my proposal to name these objects? Thanks.

cartoon names in general could be cool ....
the black hole in the center of the galaxy Messier M87 wich we took a picture of last year
should obviously not just be called "black hole"

The M87 black hole already has the Hawaiian name Powehi. However, I've suggested the name "Danny Phantom" for a neutron star very close to the Solar System.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I'm not a fan at all of the Hawaiian names. They're much harder to pronounce and don't sound as nice. 'Oumuamua should have been named Rama.

Wow, my thread is going crazy. Anyway, I was only proposing names from The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom, so could we just please discuss whether the names from those two TV shows are suitable for such bodies or not?

I don't know about names but every time I watch the show Fairly OddParents I always end up laughing a lot and feeling happy afterwards.

So are you fine with teachers telling students in the future that our Sun and Solar System formed from a cloud of hydrogen and helium dust named Timmy Turner? Or are you fine with "UV Ceti variables" being called "Cosmo variables"?

No I'm not fine with the sun being formed from Timmy Turner molecules. That's just not right but it is funny.

Here's a curly question, since the stars we watch are in the past how do we predict when they are going to blow? I'm thinking of Beetlgeuse since someone mentioned it is about to go boom, I mean we see the boom but it's already happened hasn't it? It's just the light takes so long to get here. God I hate relativity.
