Captain Robert April

MarsWeeps

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Sometime during SNW's many (hopefully) seasons, I would like to see an episode or two about Robert April's time aboard the Enterprise. It could be some type of flashback episode, or one that somehow ties in to a current crisis. Maybe the launch of the brand new USS Enterprise, or when he hands off the ship to Pike.

I think it would be cool to see the Enterprise's first mission. :techman:

I think it would be a little much when they are already bringing Kirk into the show.

I think Kirk will be there for one episode about "The Farragut Incident." Another episode with April wouldn't be too bad - just have it in a different season, especially if it's a year between seasons.

The Farragut disaster was 3 years ago in universe, so I don't think they're doing that.

And I don't think they're pushing the disaster further up the timeline because they have a memorial pin for the ship in an upcoming episode.

So April as CO, Pike as First Officer but didn't some of the novels have George Kirk as April's XO? So we could have Pike at Helm or some such.

And who would they perhaps consider for Sarah April/Poole?

April already indicated in the first episode that Pike was his XO.

They don't care about the novels, they're not canon.
*looks over at Discovery season 2's baddie, based on one of the novels*

*glances at David Mack, prolific Trek novelist and consultant to modern Trek (and who gave the Disco bridge crew some of their full names)*

*looks at Rok-Tahk on Prodigy, based on a character/species from the novels*

*Glances at Kersten Beyer, who wrote Voyager novels and then co-created ST: Picard*

They're not canon, but it's fair to say they're influence. George Kirk as first officer on the USS Kelvin is inspired by Diane Carey's Final Frontier and Best Destiny, where he was first officer of the Enterprise.

Now, seeing Holmes play off of both Pike and Hemsworth's "George Kirk-Prime"...? That would be fun. I know there's no guarantee of ever getting that moment, but it's fun to imagine.

I'm sure at some point there might be a flashback scene set during April's time commanding the Enterprise. All they'd really need to do is dye Anson Mount's hair and Adrian Holmes's beard a darker color, and boom, it's the past.

They'll also have to put the corridor around the bridge back and paint Discovery's corridors red again.

The corridor around the bridge was one of the big changes I really liked. Wished they would've kept it.
As far as a change I didn't care for too much is the swept back nacelles.

Yes, as long as they do it in flashbacks that are all animated in the Filmation style.

I would love [a Direct to Streaming movie dealing with Captain April's taking command of The Enterprise and the first crew of the NCC-1701 coming together. Also if they get Scott Bakula to reprise his role as Archer, I want him to give April the same advice Admiral Forrest (Vaughn Armstrong) gave him in "Broken Bow": "Don't Screw this up!"
