Captain Pike spin off petition

Seeing the Enterprise in all her glory felt like coming home even if TOS only came into my life after a decade of being a Trek fan. I really loved Mount and Peck's portrayal of Pike and Spock all through this season and with the amount of detail that went into the bridge set too I can definitely see a Pike/Enterprise spin-off being in the works. It goes without saying I'd watch the hell out of it. I'm also wondering what it might be called; my first thought was Star Trek: Pike, but it's a bit too character-centric... maybe Star Trek: 1701, I think this one has a nice ring to it.

I doubt they would have made such a big deal about the crew remaining onboard to accompany Burnham, if they were all going to transfer back to the Enterprise again later.

Seems clear that the show will be following them into the future, which I think is a cool idea. And it would probably differentiate them more from a Pike series when that happens.

There's no way they built that set for only 2 episodes. I think the announcement will come the week after Discovery's season finale (since Easter is directly after the finale and I doubt they want to announce anything huge during a holiday).
They build bigger more expensive sets for films. Again, I too hope they continue to do something more with Pike (Anson Mount) and Spock (Ethan Peck) in the future, but it's not impossible they built the set primarily for these two episodes.

Let the movies have Kirk, for now. Pine is great in the role.

I really hope that they get things worked out with him at some point in the near future. I think that replacing him in the role might be a disaster that would make the 'Bewitched' situation look just fine, by comparison. Obviously, viewers who had not seen the first 3 movies wouldn't be impacted by it, but for those who did it would be a giant pill to swallow. I think they would have to pull some pretty strong magic out of the casting and scripting hats to make it work even moderately well.

Pine is too old now. We need a new Kirk.

He's not too old. Of course, I'm biased. There's only six months' difference between me and Chris Pine. If you didn't know he was almost 40, you wouldn't guess it. Tom Cruise is still doing Mission: Impossible movies.

Chris Hemsworth can play both Kirk and papa kirk if they can afford him. I think he initially auditioned for Kirk.

Jim Carrey is probably too old as well, but he used to do a great Shatner Kirk.

He and Seth McFarlane could have a Kirk-off!
