Not ashamed at all. You are literally saying that Wonder Woman is better than Captain Marvel because WW has a male companion that was strong (but CM only had a female companion that was strong? and the men were somehow belittled?).

And I am certainly not being a bully. The ideas that you are expressing are scary even though you may not think so right now. Opinions about movies are fine. When those opinions slip into dangerous territory they are something else. It is these kinds of opinions that are propagated by male groups to justify feelings of inadequacy or insecurity, and too often lead to violent actions against women. This is not new. I was in Montreal when fourteen women were killed at the Polytechnique in 1989. Also, if you recognize that you have a mental health condition then perhaps you should consider bringing this up with your health care professional (again--not bullying).

And you are bullying but doing it in a snidey cowardly way. (Not surprising since divergent opinions "scare" you)

It is very easy to criticize the actions of a woman who is the protagonist of an action film, and the reason is simple.
Action film genre is quite questionable from a moral/ethical point of view because it has a simple (and problematic) rule as his foundation: no matter how complex is a problem, you can solve it by use of violence.

Now, in real life we know that violence is often the problem (except for some U.S. Presidents I suppose) but we (usually) understand that action movies exists in their own universe where common sense doesn't apply. Their heroes destroy properties and endanger innocent lives just to be sure that the bad guy would be punished.

Here a good example from Speed 2

Here the good guy provoked a environmental disaster just to be sure that the villain didn't run away.

Now, if in real life policemen or soldiers behaved in this way, they would rightly be treated as criminals. We had always been ok with that, because we know that they are escapist pieces of fiction, not documentaries.

But suddenly some (idiotic) people, only after we had some action movies' kick-ass female protagonists, have discovered that, gasp!!!, the heroes in this type of films do often questionable (from a real life point of view) things. Yes, stealing a motorbike is bad. Like exactly a more thousand of things that action heroes did from the invention of movies.

Action Movies are always been considered a male turf. Yes, often Hollywood executives imposed a female co-protagonist and a romantic sub-plot because they wanted the money of female audience too, but these elements have always been considered, well, incongruous by fans of the genre.

Now, people have discovered that if you treat female characters with respect women can actually (gasp again!!!) enjoy action movies too!!! But some men now feel threatened because they always believed this genre was "their" thing, and are (hypocritically) criticizing female characters for exactly for the same reasons why they always liked this movies, twisting the word "feminism" in a bizarre synonymous of "emasculation".

No its like this

You all want women to never be portrayed as anything but strong, honest, courageous, powerful and above reproach

Fine but then so must be all men (equal rights)

So yeah every human being in the world is perfect and flawless according to ya'll cos that's what all women are apparently.

By the way, "heroes destroy a lot of things just to catch the bad guys" was wonderfully lampooned in the opening of "The Other Guys", where the two macho super cops provoke millions in property damages and endanger countless lives just to catch some pot dealers

The last thing I'm going to say on this is that I am really not bullying you. I am trying to help you because I think you may be someone who could be helped. So I suggest not responding for a few days. Discuss your viewpoints with a few women in your life and then really listen to what they have to say.

I am sorry if you felt I was bullying you but I am at the point where I am tired completely of reading racist and sexist commentaries on this board and trying to treat them as normal.

From your posts, I don't think that at heart you are racist or sexist, but your posts do demonstrate some issues that you should really deal with by talking to a professional.

My country is pretty strict about hate speech and acts toward groups of people. At my work, if you were to come into my office and say the things you have said across various posts in the discussion and other threads, I would be by policy and law required to open a threat assessment file on your case. If you were a minor I would be required to call your parents/guardians; if you are an adult I would be required to speak to your union rep.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, but when those opinions could threaten the rights and freedoms of others then that is when the opinions become extreme and acting on or voicing those opinions becomes illegal in several democracies.

I am done responding to your posts at this point. Maybe in the future we can begin to have interesting and fun discussions about this genre of fiction that we both enjoy.

EDIT: To clarify, in this post I am not equating mental illness with violent behavior--as I know that the majority of those people with mental illness are victims rather than perpetrators despite the current rhetoric by both politicians and some media outlets. Oh, wait. That's not Captain Marvel... Now I'm confused.
