So Kids today are totally unfamiliar with Zardoz?
While I like the movie, I couldn't say kids' experience has been diminished by not seeing Connery in a banana hammock.

I have a sexy accent, so I pronounce Danvers as Danvars, but even so, it took me half a second to crack their code.
I pronounce it like the town up the road from my hometown. There's no r in the pronunciation.

Obviously Earth wasn't perfectly secure, because the Kree zeroed in on her prototype craft while it was doing a trial run.
You know I don't remember if they ever bothered to mention how exactly Starforce found her. Did I miss something?
I mean, it would ruin any mystery. I know I didn't need a mystery, but I'm sure some people didn't know who the character was.
Was it ever really a mystery though? Ver's visions of Carol start at a little over the 10 minute mark IIRC. That combined with the previous "my life before six years ago is a blank" line is more than enough for most people to get the gist of what's going on.
I thought it would be more interesting narratively and character-wise if both Carol and Vers were presented to the audience equally, as separate characters and as the story progresses Captain Marvel emerges as a gestalt of the two of them. Since everything prior to escaping the Skrulls can be revealed as being a memory machine induced hallucination, some clever editing could make it unclear as to who is dreaming of whom.

It's hilarious how people can be okay with literally changing a character's *species* (Drax not being human in the MCU), but change the gender and it's somehow a step too far.
It’s just a odd thing thing to do. Would be hilarious if it was the other way round however. Instead of Wonder Woman we get Wonder Man.

I also loved the unexpected tribute to Independence Day where the chase sequence between Maria and Minn-Erva was a beat-for-beat recreation of Hiller's battle with one of the attack fighters through the Grand Canyon.
All I could think of, was Firefly, when Wash tried to pull that stunt, and the bad guys just happily cruised above the canyon to track them without any risks.

I didn't catch it either. What I got is that they just started attacking the prototype as it was making its test flight.

I'm probably going to see it again at an off-time showing. Second time through, it's usually easier to pick up on things regarding which there's only minimal dialog and the like.

I am giving a A for this movie. My highest rating for a Marvel movie so far. It was more entertaining than Black Panther.

Brie Larson carried the role of Captain Marvel well. She surprised me with her acting. The trailer did not do any justice to her acting.

I actually liked how the movie treated the antagonist role.

Ben Mendelsohn is like a light hearted version of Hugo Weaving when it comes to playing bad guys.

My only complaint was that Jude Law turn as the Kree mentor of Brie Larson. Jude is a good actor and too bad he did not get more substantial scenes to showcase his talent.

Captain Marvel opened with $153 million domestically and $455 million globally. The film is the seventh largest opening for Marvel, trailing the Avengers films, Black Panther, Civil War, and Iron Man 3.

With an estimated $153 million, Captain Marvel proved a massive success, bringing in the third highest March opening of all-time, and don't be surprised to see actuals push the film's total a bit higher come Monday afternoon. Historically, the performance ranks among openings that include The Dark Knight ($158.4m opening), The Hunger Games: Catching Fire ($158m opening), Rogue One ($155m opening) and The Hunger Games($152.5m opening), the four of which representing a total domestic gross ranging from $408-530+ million.

On average, the 20 previous releases in the MCU delivered a 2.76x multiplier, which would suggest Captain Marvel's run would finish around $422 million based on the film's domestic opening weekend. That said, should it manage to top Iron Man 3's $409 million domestic run it would rank as the fifth largest film in the MCU and, in terms of genre competition, it has a few weeks all to itself before WB's Shazam! opens on April 5.

Internationally, Captain Marvel delivered an estimated $302 million, making it the fifth highest international opening weekend of all-time and the sixth largest worldwide debut ever. Leading the way was the film's opening in China, which is estimated at $89.3 million, which ranks as the third largest MCU opening weekend ever in the market behind Avengers: Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War. Behind China is South Korea with a $24.1 million debut followed by the UK ($16.8m), Brazil ($13.4m), Mexico ($12.8m), Australia ($10.7m), Indonesia ($10.1m), Russia ($9.8m), France ($9.2m), Germany ($7.8m), India ($6.9m), Thailand ($6.6m), Taiwan ($6.4m), Philippines ($6.3m), Malaysia ($5.6m), Italy ($5.5m) and Hong Kong ($5.2m). Next weekend the film will open in Japan serving as the only market where the film has yet to be released.

I liked it, though I expected a lot more... Top Gun dodge fights and seeing more of Carols actual flight skills. Not sure if I really understood how she got her powers (she only blew up an engine), but that's not a big deal. It's a comic book movie, so whatever. The only dissapointing thing was how Nick Fury lost his eye. That was lame. Otherwise, good movie. I can't wait to see her kick more ass in Endgame :)

This was just a very entertaining Marvel with a good heart at the center, loads of laughs, solid performances around (nothing amazing, but just good).
People claiming there's agenda in this movie are just seeing things they want to see, whatever agenda they think they see. Sure, there were one or two comments about how women were/are treated in the army, but that's just stating fact.

Loved Stan Lee's cameo in this, awesome reference to a movie I loved back then. Actually, being born in 1982 made me so nostalgic to so many things from my childhood/teenage years, so that was a blast in on itself.

If there was one thing that bugged me.... 'Just a girl' as the soundtrack to the fight. Perhaps a tad OTT. Other than that, very fun movie. Not the best MCU flick, but far from the worst.

In the realm of comicbookheroes, there was nothing ridiculous about her powers. Flying through space, blowing up stuff with energy from her bare hands..... Standard tuesday for comicbooks. I'm cool with it.
I know but she seemed way too powerful here. I didn’t feel there was any threat to her.

That was the point. That's why the Kree used the suppression implant on her.
I know but there should have been more of a challenge than that. That scene where she was fighting the AI, Jude Law should have just knocked her out the first sign she was fighting back.
They should have had at the end the reveal that Thanos was controlling the Supreme Itelligence.

Disney has already stated that they are making her the strongest character in the MCU.

In the source material she is roughly on par with vision, scarlett witch and Dr Strange, definitely below Thor and levels below Thanos but this isn't the source material and they are upgrading her.

The reason why is many of the main characters are leaving soon and Captain Marvel will be the new leader in the next few years.

But Hulk strongest there is. He said so himself.
Anyway I want Quake to lead them in the future.

Looks like Captain Carol should be able to blast Hulk into galactic orbit, i.e. with solar system escape velocity. B'bye Hulk! I doubt she could lift Thor's hammer or even move it the way Cap could, though.
