I just think that maybe comic book movies don't have to be realistic. The MCU goes for nice blend of realistic and pure fantasy with most of the realism coming from how people react to things, the best being all the Avengers becoming celebrities with the Hulk being the funniest. Seeing horrific violence that intentionally references a tragedy where actual people died in a Superman film just seems wrong. Then saying his symbol means hope just makes it worse, I don't feel hope from that. Superman seems like a danger to everyone. If you're going for hope, make the audience believe in him and it fails at that. I don't think Sydner understands Superman at all and tried to turn him into something he wasn't in order to tell the story he wanted to tell.

Personally, I think MoS took a few wrong turns (most notably in Pa Kent's death and the extreme length of the final battle, and also the dumb final scene), but it was overall a very interesting, engaging movie. Yeah, it's not the same Superman people usually expect. It's a Superman who doesn't know how to be a hero, even though he instinctively wants to be. It's a Superman who makes some big mistakes and has to go through some serious pain to save the people he's trying to save. Essentially, it's an Elseworlds tale - but it's, imo, a really good elseworlds tale with a great performance from Cavill (and Shannon). And it does link into the heroic nature of the character in it's own way ('This man is not our enemy').

Eh, it's not that big of a deal. Yeah, it would've been nice but she would be too far peripheral for a cameo in a story that's not even about S.H.I.E.L.D. I think we should be happy enough to get Coulson alone.

The only place Ming would have fit in would have been as that female agent with Coulson in the stairwell at Pegasus. While that may sound perfect, it means Coulson would be shown to flat-out lie to her, indicating a profound lack of trust which would be entirely out of character for them both. Secondly; would it really have been worth Ming-Na's time to come in and say two nondescript lines of dialogue, one of which from off-screen?

You know what my 8 year old daughter told us this morning? "Mommy, Daddy, yesterday this boy at school was being mean, calling me names, and then he tried to hit me and he pushed me down. You know what I did? I got back up, like Captain Marvel." Men can complain all they want about that 5 second pose in Endgame, or Brie Larson not being likable, but that meant everything to me. That means they are pushing good messages and role models into the world, so those guys can go fork themselves.

The only thing that bothered me about that scene was the use of a song that wasn't released until after Carol had left Earth - even though she supposedly was choosing the music, according to the Supreme Intelligence. :p

Damn right. I'm glad your daughter got the right message out of the film.
