<Klingon Death Scream> :(

Anyway if it makes you feel better, you're always welcome at the SG franchise. Alot of us ex-ST fans have made our homes there.

I was a loyal fan of SG-1 up untills eason 6. It was a good show but yeah, its quality suffered greatly and now ive completly given up on that. *sigh* hopefully BSG will fill my need for Sci-Fi but so far it hasnt done much for me.

I wonder how much the ratings fell over the past couple years because folks with nothing beter to do decided to STEAL and download the episodes instead of watching them.

Illegal Downloading = Lower ratings drops.

Hell, I can name at least 20 people on this BBS who've downloaded Enterprise episodes over the years.

Illegal downloading killed Star Trek.

Thanks everyone. :(

This topic is taboo on TrekBBS, so it's difficult to say anything for or against this --

But I will say this -- when UPN chooses to let their affiliates pre-empt shows at outrageous hours (like in the middle of the morning on Saturday), or sometimes not even air the thing at all, well, the preempted shows don't count towards ratings. And lately, Enterprise gets this treatment A LOT.

So, I can sympathize with some of those who have to take ... 'different' ... measures to get their fix of Enterprise.

man....while I wasn't exacly a fan of the show, I started watching with Babel One and LOVED that episode. I hate this now that it finally started getting good for me. Man I was looking forward to what came next. Ahh well I'll watch all of season 4. Sorry to all the Enterprise fans. F'n UPN. Even before all this news UPN sucked anyway and now they suck even more. All their shows are is a bunch of sterotypical shows and more dying WWE crapfest.

I hope those little bastards at UPN are happy. Now they've tanked the last quality show on their little ghetto network. Time to write some nasty letters to the UPN suits.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am not into any of the other sci fi stuff that is out there except SG-1 and Atlantis. You can keep all the others. I for one will not sit around waiting for 10-20 years for the next Star Trek project. I will not be investing anytime in reading any books either. Unless Star Trek comes back as a reboot, I don't think I will be back either.

this is how i feel about les mooneves
Posted by adventurer:
you dont really want me to answer that do you
Posted by adventurer:
this is merely anger so i dont want to draw a warning

les mooneves died feb 3 2005
Posted by adventurer:
technically of course i was out of line. first of all let me stress the caps button is jammed so turn a blind eye to all lower case letters. what upn sanctioned today made me so perturbed that i had to vent. if i seriously vented how i felt there would be a array of four letter curses, malevolent cliches etc. i am educated so i am disappointed and while i obviously dont wish les moonves ill will, i still am annoyed
Posted by adventurer:
ok sorry. do you want that post excised
Posted by adventurer:
ok, i will. very few things upset me in life except of course serious recriminations . this qualifies as one. a million emotions enter into the picture when a man makes a decision based on his own views. now i think enterprise from the get go was filled with quality, hell im one of the few who actually enjoyed tpols foray into learning to experience humancharacteristics. however this is what happens when brannon braga and rick berman think they know better than the fans . some individuals dont listen to reason, they have to learn the hard way. well rick berman and brannon braga learned the hard way
Posted by adventurer:
no, but i seriously doubt rick berman and brannon braga will be allowed a mile near star trek
Posted by adventurer:
i have a pretty good record here, generally ive been civil and allowing of each others opinoins, but i am upset now. i have a detailed idea of what id like to do to les mooneves
Posted by adventurer:
thanks. i dont understand why he has a devil may care attitude toward us. shit jolene blalock should tell him where to go
Posted by adventurer:
in my opinoin, the new battlestar galactica doesnt come close to encroaching the qullity of enterprise
Posted by adventurer:
i bet hell receive quite a litany of hate mail
Posted by adventurer:
and this is what gets renewed, please. todays producers wouldnt know good science fiction if it smacked them in the face. the people who sanction this drivel need to be shot
Posted by adventurer:
i may post a detailed analysis later of what i would like to do to les mooneves. i wish but he needs to be raked over the coals
Posted by adventurer:
its all right. just les mooneves better hope i dont get near him
Posted by adventurer:
in my opinoin, the new battlestar galactica is off to a good start, but i want to see the cylons reasons for turning against us, what are their motivations, their philosophies. if they address those questions fine otherwise cancel that too
Posted by adventurer:
no. at least ron moore is writing the show, so it has a chance. i hope les mooneves cringes when upn is a memory and he cries
Posted by adventurer:
and while were at it he can say he is a mother fucking bitch for cancelling a show that was beginning to exude signs of improvement. be honest say you dont give a fuck about the fans
Posted by adventurer:
all right, ill chill out. its tough though , i mean i am hurt, angry, and do want to post that analysis. i will not do it, but this is annoying.
Posted by adventurer:
i think les mooneves knew from storm front part one that this was it
Posted by adventurer:
hi. what especially perturbs me is that enterprise was improving this season. now most of the trekkers probably felt for instance the way tpol was portrayed last year was riduculous, i didnt.

i hate moonves for not caring about the fans, but worse manny coto finally made enterprise feel like a prequel and this is what we get . i seriously hate moonves guts . i mean granted there is other science fiction out there that is thought provoking but to have enterprise ended is hurtful.

i of course pride myself on being a rational human being but right now i am livid, and while i knew this was coming i hate the man who basically pulled the plug
Posted by adventurer:
well i right now plan to get a array of darts right now and throw them at a poster of les mooneves
Posted by adventurer:
thats what happens when you have fuckheads running the franchise
Posted by adventurer:
you know what , fuck it . this will probably engender a warning, and possibly suspension, but i dont care. i am fucking pissed off and while i dont mean any of these rantings, i feel i have to vent. bear in mind i would not do this to les mooneves.

february 3 2005 a white ford is rapidly traversing around wilshire boulevard careening at eighty. the time is 335 pm. les mooneves who just recently cancelled enterprise and is elated is startled at first/ he dismisses the screechings of the white ford as some driver making a sharp maneuver . three seconds later he turns around only to have himself ascended eighty feet in the air courtesy of the ford hitting him at eighty miles per hour. mooneves falls on the ground in obvious pian. the assislant takes a bat and proceeds to smash it over moonves head until his head splits open like a grapefruit . he then sets moonves on fire , and then subsequently vaporizes him with a phaser, recently invented
Posted by adventurer:
these are just rantings. i think i will chill out now. i admit this isnt like me , and while i am not violent still i had to vent. i am hurt but the old me will surface. it still stings. obviously when Trek was initially cancelled, it flourished
Posted by adventurer:
i felt though i had to seethe. oh we are all in pain big time , some of us are subtle about it, others vehement
Posted by adventurer:
well im done being irrational

Anything else you'd like to add? :wtf:

I'm sorry, I cannot help it ...

I've been watching this guys posts all day, and each time I've been going :wtf: The later ones had me kinda

But after seeing them all chained up like that, I cannot help but laugh my ass off ... I'm sorry ...

I have to say that the wrath directed at Moonves is very much misdirected.

Had Enterprise made enough money, it would have stayed. Period. UPN hardly treated Enterprise with the same homicidal mania that Fox used to kill Firefly.

Frankly, the truth is, Berman and Braga simply blew it. They thought in the beginning that we'd buy anything with the label "Star Trek" on it.

Obviously, they were wrong.

Had we gotten what we've seen this season in the beginning , this thread would not exist. Instead, they took a show that had incredible possibilities and let it sort of drone on monotonously for the first couple of years.

They simply didn't care. And it showed. And now we've come to this day.

So it wasn't the fans. It wasn't Moonves. It was Berman and Braga, end of story and off. Had they cared, more of US would have cared, and there would be no mourning this day.

Anyway, like I said earlier...Trek has died before. It is also a franchise with a powerful potential fanbase...there have been no less than four movies about Trek fans alone (including Galaxy Quest, the best Trek movie ever made!). That potential can't lay undisturbed for long.

The way I choose to look at it, there are two potential advantages for a Trek hiatus at this point. 1) No more Berman and Braga mucking up the place; and 2) having no Trek around for a couple of years could reunite the fanbase when the show makes its (to me, inevitable) comeback...particularly if that comeback is produced by people with new ideas, fresh energy, and who CARE about Trek beyond making a simple buck.

Trek will live again. Count on it.

(eyes the crowd)

So say we all! :)

Even I'm not the biggest supporter of the show this is extremly SAD. But I still hope for a future of Star Trek. I say that the franchise will be brought back ... just in time for 2008 ... guess why. Mark my words: we will have 3 years without Star Trek. I'm optimistic in this matter.

Although I'm not disappointed to see ENT go, I add my condolences for those of you who have enjoyed and supported the show through thick and thin. Paramount and TPTB have failed you as much as I feel they have failed Star Trek, through their lack of support and understanding of the value of Star Trek and its fans.

I hope that within the next 5 years, we will see a fresh and committed revival of the franchise by people who not only care about the continued life of Star Trek, but who also take the time to understand how difficult and demanding the market is, not only for genre shows but for all entertainment, and that they make a serious attempt to push the boundaries that they have seemed either too fearful or too complacent to even approach for the last decade.

Star Trek and its fans deserve better than they've received at the hands of the stewards.

:(
This is exactly how I feel about the cancellation of Enterprise.

...It wasn't my favorite star trek inclination but I did see growing potential. Sorry to hear it fellow fans. I know that you guys must feel pretty letdown. :(

My prayers have come true!

4 years late, but later is better than never or 7 years!

Now is the time to get over E... The "official" publications will dwindle in value, and the classic Fandom-produced publications will Triple in value within the next decade... James T. Dixon's gonna be a rich man!

Warning for trolling.

I am upset, of course.
I just really started to watch the show and began to enjoy it.

I'm blocking UPN. I don't have a use for them anyway, but
it's still horrible.

At least we've had four years, albeit of varying quality. Still, there are the memories to look back upon, and the DVDs as well as the future to look forward to. I wouldn't mind seeing the mantle of Enterprise storytelling passed to our esteemed and completely capable colleagues in the TrekLit forum, though I will think of what might have been onscreen with a measure of regret. So much potential left unfulfilled...

I dont know if I can offer anything else of value to say, except maybe this (slightly modified) poem:

Go tell the Trekkers
Stranger passing by
That here obedient to their shows
We lie.

Poor poor Enterprise. I admit, I haven't watched the show in a while, but this is still very sad. :(

Could it be possible that the ratings will have a major spike because of this announcement?

Sure, if all those like you come back to watch it NOW.

I feel really bad for all you Enterprise Fans. Chin up, smile and go on with your day. Trek will be back in some form, some day. That's what is important. They will not just sweep it under the rug and forget that it ever existed. It WILL be back someday in the future. Lets just hope that it is better than ever when it comes back.

Remember that Trek exists as long as we do. We survived without a new TV show before, and we will this time.

History will not forget the name Enterprise...

Edit, changed Enterpiss to Enterprise

But, you see, for some of us it is not that simple. That Star Trek might come back some day in the future is not a consolation for me. I liked THIS show. I wanted THIS show to continue.

I jsut saw the news. All I can say is that even though the writing has been on the wall I was hoping beyond hope that Manny Coto would be able to save the show.

the thing is, with him, it is

they just need another chance, the 4th season is excellent

they would need to renew for a 5th season, keep him on, and advertise like crazy, it could work

but it aint even being given the chance

and Atlantis is really making a name for itself

you might wanna give it another try, watch it in order, it is a lot of fun
