Dear god, that woman! The only time I ever felt any sense of remote fondness for her was in the book Q-in-Law, when I think Q finally met his own match...and it wasn't Janeway.

Oh, I bet that was the battle to end all battles. I could see John De Lancie with a tiny smirk on his face, dolling out sarcasm and snark, and Majel arching her brows and swishing her hips trying to boss him around. Fun stuff. Is this a recent book?

No, I believe it's well over a decade old now...I think it was written by Peter David. And I won't ruin the book, but let's just say the end involves Q being bounced around like a tennis ball all over the Enterprise. Very easily the funniest Trek book I've ever read...good stuff.

Okay I posted my picture in the Miscellaneous section in the Pictures Season 5 thread......

I swear I hate the way I look! It's not a great picture but it was the only one that I could get someone to send me... (My scanner isn't working) And I rarely take pictures...

I know that I do not look the way anyone imagined me to!

What do you mean you hated Troi's Mom? She was like a well-dressed Venus Flytrap. Best thing they did was pair her w/ a Ferengi. Poor Picard didn't know whether to shoot her or put her in airlock. I'm surprised he didn't spend most of his time locked in his cabin.

I just have to add I loved Henpecked Picard, and I loved Lwaxana for chasing him, and I really loved that TPTB used an actress of a certain age....

Girlfriend! You need to cut it right there. There is nothing to be ashamed of!
I know that I do not look the way anyone imagined me to!
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you didn't surprise me at all. :D

I always pretty much try not to assume how anyone looks. I always just assume that people look like their avatars.

I'm like you, I don't like the way I look in pictures so I always try to avoid getting my picture taken if I can help it. But, I thought your picture was very good. :)

I posted mine in the commie lounge, but I may put mine in the misc one too. :D

 Thanks Ulva! I still hate the way I look in pics! My eyes always look too small IMO...

I know that I do not look the way anyone imagined me to!

I'm glad! Most people say,"You don't look the way I imagined..." and they trail off of their sentence!

Well, you wouldn't wanna look like Bambi, I tell you. I think it's so interesting how people hate how they look when photographed. Many perfectly pretty girls just hate the way they turn out. I think it's kinda' sad actually. Both of you kitkat and LLAP2U are pretty, you hear me? :D

pookha, Blah, Witchie, Llap2U, and Commie,

sorry RL has been hectic in the past few days and I only just got to see this. wow, angie and I love being controversial I know ;) but this is seriously ego-boosting. :p

anyway, just wanted to wrap up and say thanks to everyone for being so nice and open here, in this thread. yes, I understand that "every day is always a new day" is kinda impossible even if we gun for it in our lives. OF COURSE what we say and do will affect our interactions with each other in everything else. so I do understand that in the other thread, some T/T-ers immediately got their hackles up when I came in. believe me, I WAS having just a discussion. and yes, I WAS defending Archer and also A/T'P (indirectly). I didn't have to and, I know, I really, REALLY shouldn't have. I don't even know why, that day, I was reading a thread I usually don't. must have been a lack of the ones I mostly read ;).

either way, when Top41 came in, I was taken aback because IN MY MIND, I wasn't baiting, I wasn't being nasty, and I wasn't even arguing -- in my mind, I was having a discussion with you all and putting forth my viewpoint. and I even thought I was being extra NICE and conciliatory in my own way.

anyway, pookha, thanks for clearing the mod action up for me. yes, I would have preferred a PM from you or someone else, but that's okay. we also (in the A/T'P thread) tend to get our backs up when certain people show up and post. and I guess I just have to accept that I am probably one of those people from our side of the matter to you guys! No, I don't like it that we arouse this reaction in each other but let's face it, we all are creating some bad history when we fight about our 'ships. it IS true that I am a bit scrappy in my arguments, although I really do mean well and I don't remember much about what anyone said to me in another thread. so "every day IS kind of a new day" for me. that's why, despite not liking what Hoshisis often says about Archer, I can go into her music thread, watch her vid and enthuse to her about what I love about it, you know?

the thing is, I have always been an honest, forthright kinda gal and I accept that, at times, this trait will piss people off. in this case, it happens to be you guys. IRL, I am sure we'd all have a lot of fun together as some of you seem to be having in this thread.

btw, Commie, thanks for sticking up for me. you rock.

and Llap2U, nice post. thanks! I also had fun talking to you in that thread. hey have you seen Bollywood Hollywood? and did I ever ask you what you thought of those Bollywood movies you saw? we should talk sometime! Commie's seen some too!

indranee, don't worry about it... I hope this kind of mess won't happen again.

Well, let's bring some RL in here then! :D

As for Bollywood movies... Some are really good! I've seen some (they show them on our national television station at times) and I've got to say, some of the stories are absolutely captivating! :D

Don't worry Indranee different strokes for different people. I may be harsh about Archer but that's only because I'm disappointed in him. I'll try to be a less mouthy critic in the future. I know there are A/T supports who think the same way about Trip.

Is the vid your going on about the muppet one 'Moving Right Along'? If it is your niece will love this one by Miss Piggy and Kermit 'She Drives Me Crazy'. Its a satirical T/T one.

She drives me crazy

My little girl is crazy about the muppets at the moment so I'm having great fun listening to all of them and deciding if a video will fit with it. I'm thinking of doing one to Kermit's 'It's tough being green' about Vulcans.

Thank you indranee... I like to have great debates but as I said you never know what is going to set someone off in a thread. Oh well...

As for Bollywood... Have I seen some... I OWN some!

I have Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Se, Dil To Pagal Hai, Duplicate (do you see a ShahRukh Khan thing going on here?) but I do have a few others...

Some are in DVD so I have subtitles in English. Others like 'Dil Se' I have had to try to figure it out by reading plotlines and keeping a Hindi/English dictionary with me while looking...

I actually like some of them! Some can get a bit silly and others a bit 'preachy' but I do like them! :D

Here's the thing: I don't mind hearing Archer is Super!Archer. I think there are some valid points about how silly it is to receive a gunshot wound to the shoulder and still being able to beat up the bad guy.

However, Archer in a way will always be Super!Archer -- just like all the other captains of all the other series; he's been put into the stereotypical role of the "hero." He's more like Kirk (apt to save everyone), than Picard (leading a team who saves everyone). That's the way the show was put together. If you dislike that angle of the show, I would recommend writing to Paramount and letting them know your displeasure. Repeating the same comments with snide remarks about Archer only raises the ire of the Archerites ... and those who like Bakula.

I'm not trying to be insensitive to the plight of the other characters (Phlox definitely deserves more time), but my point is ... I think some things are a given. I think the writers had selected Archer as the hero for the premise of the show, which is why they worked so hard to secure Bakula, a "big-named star."

I'm thinking of doing one to Kermit's 'It's tough being green' about Vulcans.

"It's Not Easy, Being Green" is a magical song that absolutely captures that being different is okay (even if it's hard). I think it would be captivating and thought-provoking, especially using it for Vulcans. It's a beautiful thought.

One thing in the Trek franchise all the captains have been super but different. I couldn't get into either DS9 or Voyager but liked both Captains , but Archer is the first one to be my favorite character. The Captain should be super IMHO. Archer though has been disliked for being weak and bing super. It all comes down to personal preference but anyone should know if your fav is not the Captain or the loyal sidekick you get left-overs. I had a crush on Checkov but even at 12 knew he wasn't going to be in every ep or the focus. Sorry to ruin the love-fest here :(

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. As much as it irritates the Archerites (Tuckerties, T'Polers, Mayweathers, Reed Ravers...) to hear the critics, it irritates the critics just as much to hear the praise for a character they dislike. It's a disagreement based on personal preference and taste. Avoid it when you can and don't take it personally when you can't. If you feel like you have to attack or defend a character, expect that someone will respond and don't complain about it. Arguments happen. It does nothing to tell the other side that they shouldn't argue their point of view.

The claims that people aren't "allowed" to say certain things about characters is bogus. People can say whatever they want within the realm of reason and respect for individual posters. If you don't like it, either ignore it or debate it. Yes, for people who have been here for a while some of the arguments get old. It's summer. It's gonna happen. But the debate isn't going to stop just because a few people get sour and pouty about it, nor should it.

Tolerance.

the only thing about a super archer is not only do they tend to make the rest of the crew look stupid of weak when he shows up .. well it gets boring.

i know quills cited the time when khan captured the crew
(something by the way people have complained about in the past that spock should have been the last to pass out) as kirk being super but there are so many more where kirk was well so imperfect.. so human.

one of the most interesting is a comedy with some serious undertones if you think about it and that is tribbles.

one reason it worked so well is that kirk for so much of the story has the short end of the stick.

tribbles could almost be called kirks horribly bad stressful day that turned out ok by accident in the end.

he has a headache, everyone seems to know about the wheat excpet for him, he has to protect the wheat because a whole planet is riding on it.. the admirality calls him to smack him around and reminds him of it.

klingons show up.. the headache is worse, a fight breaks out, he tries to eat.. there are tribbles in his food.. uh oh tribbles may be in the grain.. but soon they are pouring down on kirk.

spock who normally is protective of kirk just lets the tribbles keep on raining down :p

the tribbles are poisoned and most dead ;kirks career looks headed that way till by accident the assistant of the federation beuacrat comes in just as the tribbles leave.

tribble hissy fit.. tribble hissy fit.

he is a klingon
shermans planet now will go to the federation :)
kirks career is saved.. :)

you just cant do stuff like that with a super captain.

:p

or have the captain be pushed to his limits and have his friends and officers call him on the carpet like was done to kirk in obsession.

or have his decision and assumption proved wrong in arena.

the one fault of archer is he dosnt say he is sorry or you were right enough.

kirk did it a lot.
