Call of Duty: Black Ops

Like other CODs I seem to either have a great game or my head attracts every bullet on the map.

I'm well on my way to the 1000g. I only need five more achievements - the four Zombie related ones, and the 3 kills/1 bullet one. Treyarch definitely listened to the community in regard to the Veteran difficulty. No grenade spam to be seen, they've just made the enemies accurate as hell. It feels like a challenge, but I think I found it easier than the Veteran modes on the last three games. Whether that's to do with my skills having improved, or that it was just easier to complete, I don't know.

As for the MP; I'm at level 47, sneaking up to my 1st prestige, with a K/D of 1.94. Playing mostly Sabotage, with a bit of Harcore S&D. I've got nearly 95,000 points in the bank that I don't know what to do with cause I've bought everything I want.

Black Ops earns $650m in 5 days - $100m over MW2

Black Ops, Activision's latest Call of Duty, has set a new entertainment industry record, grossing over $650 million in its first five days of availability.
The record was previously held by the $550 million of game's predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, claim Activision.
At a rough estimate, $650 million grossed suggests somewhere in the region of 10 million unit sales (based on an RRP of $60, but there will be significant variations in per-territory and per-retailer pricing), though Activision has yet to share exact numbers.
Figures from Microsoft reveal that over 2.6 million unique players fired up the game on Xbox 360 on its launch day last week.
In the same day, more than 5.9 million hours were logged in the game's multiplayer mode.
"Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for two consecutive years across all forms of entertainment," said Bobby Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard.
"The title's success illustrates the mass appeal of interactive entertainment as millions of consumers are choosing to play Call of Duty: Black Ops at unprecedented levels rather than engage in other forms of media.
"The number of people playing online and the number of hours they are playing demonstrates how online gaming has become a mainstream form of entertainment and certainly validates Activision Blizzard's leadership role in online entertainment."
Added Paul Raines, CEO of GameStop, "Call of Duty: Black Ops had the highest number of pre-orders of any video game to date."
"It went on to become our biggest video game launch ever, which bodes well for game sales as we enter the holidays."
Amazon also hailed Black Ops as its best-selling game launch to date.

Somehow I think that the NEXT COD won't outsell Black Ops, since it's going to leave a bad taste in people's mouth!

When's Respawn Entertainments first game coming out already?

Word was they planned to start on their first project this past summer, so I'd guess that it won't be ready for release until Christmas 2011 at the earliest.

Yeah I think it's probably more Holiday 2012... I mean, their website is still just a link to their jobs email address

But even though they haven't announced their game, I'm assuming whatever it is will be the military FPS to beat.

Might as well buy all the gamecard layers and tag cards. That's the only thing you don't lose when you prestige isn't it? May as well spend the $$$ as that's reset as well I think.

I'm sat on #50, can't really be bothered prestiging and having to earn Ghost Pro etc again. Besides, I'm far too used to the commando assault rifle, the stoner and the Kiparis now to go back to the M16!

My hope is they'll do what they did with the original Call of Duty and bring something completely new to the genre and revitalize it. Whatever they come up with, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Given that they're under EA now, and given where most of IW started, I'm looking forward to Medal of Honour: Modern Warfare III!

They left EA in the first place because they were fed up with how Medal of Honor was going. But Respawn isn't owned by EA like Infinity Ward is by Activision; EA is just helping with the funding and publishing the game. They'll have some say in Respawn's games, but they won't have nearly as much control as Activision had over them.

No, and this can only be a good thing. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with unfettered by Activision's money-grabbing claws.

Aye, I think you're right, it does all reset at prestige. I just have no use for any more layers. I have an emblem that I'm happy with, so I don't want to change or add to it. I could probably buy a few more backgrounds, but there aren't many that I like the look of.

No no no. That's copyright infringement.

Call of Honor: Medal of Duty- Contemporary Conflict IV: The Voyage Home

That one's lawyer proof.

According to my Xbox newsletter, it's Double-XP on Black Ops for the Free Live Weekend, which takes place next weekend (26th - 28th).

Hmm, may prestige afterall at that point then. Seems a waste not to take advantage!

Played some combat training yesterday on normal, ranked up about 10 ranks in 1 game! Wish MP had been that easy!

The PC version is really annoying, you purchase these 'contracts', right? I got a few, including win a FFA match, then I proceed to win a FFA match in an 18 player lobby, which I don't mind saying is actually pretty difficult... does it register that I completed the contract? Nope. I selected a FFA game from the 'ranked' server menu. Not sure if I've even been getting the regular XP and COD points... it's really hard to track your progress since you get about 3 seconds between matches to try to figure out the after action report.

I think I'm just about done with this game.

What is burning my butt is playing zombies online and the guys I am playing with use that glitch to jump in the air and I am the one running around doing all the fighting. When I see them doing that I immediately end the game and go find some others to play with.

Thing about zombie mode this time around is that solo play is a viable option this time around for a decent game. You could play solo on WaW, but it wasn't really suited to solo play and you'd never get very far. This time around it's more attuned to solo play, plus you have quick revive with which you can actually revive yourself.
