Building the Eaglemoss Enterprise-D partwork

Not bad, I got one more stage in I gotta do photo uploads for. I was actually charged for my next shipment a week and a half ago, but no shipping update on it yet.

 

that looks great. My second shipment arrived now. Im going to wait for my next shipment then I will start building it.

I actually do have a question. I'm on stage 3, 4, 5, 6 (second shipment just arrived). The OP's photos (not yours, I realize) look like the lit-up main deflector has the blue inner ring attached. My instructions for stage 3 didn't mention that part at all although it came in the third pack, so I assumed it would be installed in a later stage. Can you confirm that this happens later on? Or did the instructions simply skip a step here?

 

^^^ Eaglemoss does that sometimes, for some odd reason. When I built the DeLorean, for example, they sent me parts for the pre-Mr. Fusion nuclear reactor in the very first shipment, but not to be used until almost the end of the build, once the engine and other reactor parts had been put into place.

BTW, most EM subscriptions can be accelerated by upping the number of issues they send (supply permitting). The default is four at a time, but I've been able to bring it up to 10 per month, possibly more. Since this is a new build, they may not have enough issues in stock to make it work, but if anyone's interested, the option is there.

 

I asked about that and in the UK you can only increase it up to 6 issues/parts a month.

Yeah that's right. I was just wondering because with the bussard collector, the instructions specified that it wasn't needed yet, with the deflector part it didn't, which got me confused. Thanks for confirming that I didn't mess it up

I get that I do lol. There is one where the nacelles grids are painted a copper colour it looks amazing.

 

I'm looking for a bit of help if I may!

I'm following the instructions to the letter but frequently finding that parts don't fit together well (unlike @Timofnine 's perfectly pristine assembly).

For instance:


Putting aside the extra lip at the back of the stardrive section (what even is that...?!), the back plate housing the impulse engine doesn't align with the top piece and there's a MASSIVE gap. So much so that I wonder whether the underlying black framework is warped?

Anyone else had these kinds of issues?

Definitely not that wire - it's where the manual said to tuck it and it moves very freely as there seems to be a dip in the framework to allow it to.

I'll check the other wires. I find the manual frequently advises you to tuck wires into spots that makes it seemingly hard to get panels flush against the frame.

So I moved the wires to be sure (the official suggestions seem to frequently leave rubber wire heads squished under framework) and no effect.

I did notice that the die-cast head and the plastic back just don't seem to be quite the same shape: you can see the plastic back's curve pulls further away than the head in these snaps:
