If I had the money to burn, I'd definitely do the D, Ecto, DeLorean, and Terminator. They all look fun! A TMP Enterprise would be great, in scale to the D.

So, if any FM screws become bare, the Caretaker gave me this to use and it works a treat. It is usually used for insulating screws and making them water proof apparently.
You carefully wrap it around a screw that doesn’t fit or becomes lose/thread bare and when you put it back in to the slot and tighten it, it is a tight fit.

He keeps talking about *free * parts and a *free* mil drill, yet I keep having to pay for parts and a drill bit.

I have been on the internet to research and apparently there are too many blacked out windows in an upcoming panel piece for the windows.
I am happy to sort this out myself, maybe I will ask our school’s Janitor if the Caretaker doesn’t have a plan… but if anyone can explain how to fix or live with this?Also the way the windows seems not quite aligned? All other windows are aligned to a satisfactory standard in other parts of the model… this looks kinda unacceptable?
I’ve not had these parts delivered yet, if no one else can fix this then I will try!

Pausing the build for now. I've only had one shipment this year, with nothing apparently on the way. I won't be home much over the summer because of a few concerts and a month long vacation, and with having no clue when packages could show up I just told Eaglemoss to freeze my deliveries through September. Hopefully by than they have their shipping situation sorted.

That is terrible I really hope you can ask for a replacement to get that fixed.
I need to get to work on mine big time, I feel a bit overwhelmed with it all at the moment. I'm torn about the damn windows the resin ones look soooo much better but they are a lot of work to do. At the same time if I don't make the model as good as I can I will kick myself.
I don’t have this piece yet, so maybe they will fix it before they ship it out? If not, I’ll ask the janitor about something to remove the black paint off some of the Windows to make it look more even.
After making us work so hard in putting all of the individual saucer section windows in so perfectly and to an exact layout, you would have thought that the windows that they send pre constructed in one panel piece would be just as perfectly placed/aligned?
I don't agree. I think it's just absolutely geared towards building as a partwork. I get four build stages a month, some are more challenging than others. And if you use tweezers, even inserting the hundreds of windows is actually easy to do. I try not to rush the build but focus on one or two stages in a day. Also, if you then wait 3-4 weeks for the next shipment to arrive, you're eager again to continue. Not sure if the same could be said if the entire model arrived in one shipment. Then it would be daunting for sure.
Have you checked to see if Shapeways has a window set? They have all kinds of 3D printed things for kits.
Or the Goldsmith "powering up" music from TMP.
How do the resin windows go in? Do they plug in to the back of the panels?
The kit windows are put in individually by hand. I’d mess the model up if I tried resin as it involves a lot more skill. Like I said earlier, I’ve not made an Enterprise model since I was a kid and that was an air fix kit. I was rubbish at painting them though. Painted my DS9 model quite well though. This is why I’m glad that this model is pre painted.

Question: So you wrap the stuff around the screw then just shove the whole thing into the screw hole? That seems like a lot of "wrap" for a small screw and screw hole. I really do appreciate your advice throughout this thread. Top notch advice!!
Not for all screws, just screws that happen to loose their thread or if you accidentally damage the thread in the hole. It just gives that little bit extra ‘tightness’ to the fit of the screw so it doesn’t endlessly spin in circles and not tighten, only had one or two like this though and it’s probably my own fault for over tightening. I probably over did the wrapping in the picture but it compresses in to the hole as the screw is screwed in just fine, giving that satisfying end range tightness.
how the resin windows work is you cover one side of the window holes with UV tape. Then on the other side, you slowly drip the UV Resin into the windows. Once you've done that carefully remove all the bubbles with toothpicks and fill in any gaps then cure the resin and you get awesome windows that fit perfectly.

That's the answer I was looking for.
I am a modeller, so I thought it would be something like that. Then I also thought the windows might be a clear plastic strips attached to a sprue and had to be poly-cemented in or something.
Resin windows sounds tedious and frustrating, which to me means it's fun.
Well considering some people have been waiting months for shipments a few weeks is pretty quick.
