Bugs!

I got home from work tonight, and my house was filled with bugs! I don't know what kind of bugs they are, but I've killed about two dozen so far. They keep flying around my lights. Every time I think I've got them all, a bunch more appear out of nowhere.

I'm thinking a bunch of eggs must have hatched while I was at work today. I can't figure out what else would cause so many of the same type of bug to randomly show up.

I'm annoyed because it's already 5am, and I haven't been able to go to bed yet because of these stupid bugs. I just wish I knew where they were all coming from!

BUG BOMB 'EM!!!

You should probably not be in there when you do, though.

Assuming you can set off a bomb where you live. Might be a good way to deal with problem neighbors too.

This is why you need a few big spiders in the corners of your rooms. They will eat the bugs.

This does me no good if the bugs are flying around my head.

Yeah you could release these guys on them. Although you might have a wee problem afterwards.

What do these bugs look like? How big are they etc.

You know those really tiny bees? They kind of look like that, but slightly smaller...and not bees.

I just spent the last 30 minutes killing them. Every time I'd kill a batch of them, some new ones would show up.

Only when they forget how to fly and crash to the ground. These are not smart bugs. I have turned on my bathroom light, and hopefully it will lure them away from my bed.

I really just want to know where they came from! This doesn't make any sense.

here's the spider I had in my bathroom last year...it's soooo big that it starts BARKING!!!!!

Ugh. Do you live in Florida? Around this time we start getting all sorts of interesting & annoying invertebrates invading our homes. :scream:

winged insects attracted to lights might be termites or winged ants.

Okay, I managed to kill all of them. I found out that they kept emerging from under my nightstand, so I flipped the thing over and found a bunch of them. I'm not sure why they were there, but it seemed to stop the problem. Hopefully they don't come back.

Y'know, I totally misread the thread title as "Hugs!". Was disappointed at the actual content.

But yick, flying bugs. Maybe you spilled something there and it provided moisture and food for some creepie-crawlie (or flappy-flyie in your case)....

Did you snap a few photos, so the entomologically inclined among us might have a stab at identifying the species?

Oh, and my suggestion if the little buggers return: Pet bats!

RoJoHen, make sure you check your kitchen and pantry carefully. Make sure all grains are stored in airtight containers, and none of them appear "lumpy," or to have stringy things in them. Certain types of weevils (or weevil-types, anyway) will lay eggs in the grains and then hatch and start flying around.

I would definitely give your supplies the once--over, toss out anything open or suspicious and then bug bomb the place, just to be sure.
