Wasn't that mean to be the uber-vampires? Otherwise yeah that kind of went by the wayside. There isn't really much redeeming factor about season seven.
I'm still watching Buffy for the first time and right now I'm at 7x11 where there's a big deal about Buffy having disrupted the Slayer bloodline or whatever, which made me think - the first time she died, Faith came along, why didn't a new Slayer get "assigned" or however that happens, the second time she died after season 5? It's especially weird with all the Slayer prospects hanging around her house right now. Am I overthinking this or will there be an explanation for this sometime?
The first seven episodes, from the season premiere through "Conversations with Dead People", seemed to be building up in one direction, and then they changed course, dropped most of those plot threads, and went in a different direction. It's a shame, too, because those early episodes were very good.Mm, the plot of Season 7 never really made much sense.
Whatever happened to the "From beneath you it devours" theme from the first few episodes?
And whatever happened to Dawn's new school friends in the first episode, Kit and Carlos, her version of Willow and Xander. Never seen or heard from again
I agree. I really enjoyed the first part of Season 7 because of the direction they were taking. Then all of a sudden things got really dark and angry, and I just didn't enjoy it all that much. The first seven episodes, from the season premiere through "Conversations with Dead People", seemed to be building up in one direction, and then they changed course, dropped most of those plot threads, and went in a different direction. Speaking of CWDP, I'll add in the "When it's bad, Buffy won't choose you. She'll be against you" line to the mix.I agree. And I'm not convinced at all that Buffy would have really done it. She just said it to Giles to try to convince him that she was "all about the mission" and not letting personal feelings affect her, which he didn't believe.Speaking of CWDP, I'll add in the "When it's bad, Buffy won't choose you. Yeah ok, Jane Espenson had to confirm later that it was the First Evil and not the ghost of Joyce. And there's that little thing in Lies My Parents Told Me-
Buffy- "Giles, we had this conversation when I told you that I wouldn't sacrifice Dawn to stop Glory from destroying the world."
Giles- "Ah, yes, but things are different, aren't they? After what you've been through, faced with the same choice now, you'd let her die."
Buffy- "If I had to...to save the world. Yes."
But still... that was it? That big dramatic moment just for that little bit of dialogue. Bah
Why and how Buffy disrupted the balance when she came back in season 6, I have no idea. Wasn't the balance already "upset" when Kendra was called, despite the fact that Buffy came back to life just minutes later? There had been two Slayers for 4 years before Buffy died in The Gift. Oh well, it was just a plot device to explain the First, anyway.
Yeah I remember that exchange and I agree with Devil Eyes that it was more or less Buffy just showing Giles her conviction. The fact that she pauses before completing the sentence would indicate that she would most likely find another way.
Sineya was first seen in "Restless," the season four finale, in which she hunted Buffy and the gang in their dreams after they used the Enjoining spell to fight Adam. The episode you might be thinking about was near the end of season five, in which Giles sent Buffy on a spiritual quest and Sineya told her that death was her gift. She appears once more, late in season seven.I always thought that the force was disrupted when the scoopies channeled *all* the former slayers for Buffy to fight Adam... Wasn't there a "first slayer" episode during season six?
Rubbish. Buffy was depressed during season 6, not season 7, and during her depression she never stopped caring about people, including strangers, let alone people she loved, like Dawn. She cared too much when she wrongly believed she accidentally killed a stranger in Dead Things, and wanted to give herself up to the police. She certainly cared when Willow tried to kill Dawn and then everyone else - forget that, she cared very much to try to stop Willow from killing Warren Fucking Mears, of all people, and Andrew and Jonathan.Yeah I remember that exchange and I agree with Devil Eyes that it was more or less Buffy just showing Giles her conviction. It's possible that the Season 6/7 Buffy would actually let Dawn die. She is a significantly more angry and depressed person than she was before her unwanted "rescue" from Heaven. She might not want Dawn to die, but she also may not care enough to do anything to stop her from dying.
