Breaking: Michael Jackson hospitalized

^ Makes sense. It must be such a disturbing thing to have someone just keel over and stop breathing. Panic stations probably. I do hope his kids didn't see that.

Very sad news. Never was at a concert of his, but I really enjoyed the TV specials, and his legendary music videos. Rest in Peace, Michael. :(

No mater what you think of Michael Jackson, it is still sad to hear of his death. I was never a fan of his, I did like some of his songs. He was a great entertainer. RIP Michael

This is not unexpected to me, he abused his body with all the assorted treatments, drugs, and crazy potions to stop the normal aging process..

His body of work will live on, his children can live off the musical rights to his music for the foreseeable future.

To me he is a tragic figure, and will remain so..

Meh. I'm glad I grew up and got married before MJ became an MTV phenomenon. I feel sorry for the guy because no one should die at 50, but that's about it.

Ya, I saw a E! special on Jackson a year ago where they explained the odd-ball treatments he went thru to stay young forever.:wtf: I have to say I am afraid his ''fixation'' on staying young has become a mainstreem problem.

Shame. Same age as me, too.

Was never a huge fan, but recognised well crafted pop when I heard it. I did really like his cover of the Beatles' 'Come Together'.

At the end of the day, I think, no matter how high the fame... it wasn't a great life to live, if you know what I mean, so far from anything like normal.

Interesting. One of the media reports/ background filler things (from CBS, I think) suggested he went in for the surgery after he began to see his father's features coming through in his face. That's really sad.

If that report of him leaving McCartney the Beatles back catalogue is true, that wa a nice thing to do, I suppose,, though a) he could have just let McCartney buy them back in the day instead of jumping in, and b) he's in effect taking money out of his estate for his kids. Ah well, I'm sure he'd thought it through.

At the end of the day, yeah, a shame.

I personally liked Jackson BEFORE all the plastic surgery and wanting to be young forever. I thought he was quite attractive in the 80s and adored his music. I remember the one song that I dearly loved as a child that he did with some other famous musicians called "We Are the World". I remember being asleep one night and Dad coming to get me up @ 3am to see the music video on MTV. I was about 4 or 5 then and just loved the song. And I also got the T-shirt as well. I still can't get over his death..both him and Fawcett dying on the same day is just really sad. :( I did see on the news, however, that they will get the report from Jackson's autopsy as early as tomorrow afternoon. At first I didn't think it was an overdose cause I didn't realize he was taking perscription medications but now think that he might have accidentally overmedicated himself. I mean, people now die for strange reasons, whether it be an overdose or just a simple, natural cause.

One of the saddest pieces of news of my 26-year-old life. Total shock here.

Along with Elvis Presley and The Beatles, Michael Jackson was a pillar of modern popular music, and now the final pillar has fallen.

He was, is and forever shall be a musical legend, icon and genius, as well as a great humanitarian and strange, beguiling spirit. A totally unique individual to be admired, pitied, and, ultimately, understood. I hope his life is put into proper perspective, in time.

May he rest in peace.

It was a sight when I was walking into work today for my evening shift. On the way to work, the radio station was quoting that TMZ report that Michael had died, and I debated whether or not to tell my coworkers. Instead, I walked in to find half of them huddled around someone's iPhone, checking breaking news alerts, and the rest where surrounding a girl on the phone with a coworker still at home, who was watching it on CNN.

I don't think any of us would have called ourselves Michael Jackson fans, but it was still enough of a shock that we dropped everything we were doing to reflect on the news.

Sorry to see you go MJ. In my mind, you were one of the greatest performers ever. As a person, I'll always prefer to remember you as you were from Off the Wall to the Bad album. But your music will be timeless.

*crawls out of oblivion*

I was sad to hear about this. I don't claim to know anything about what he did, I don't want to guess. That said I think he was a sad soul who was torn up a long, long time ago. Doesn't excuse the possibilities, but as I was telling a friend, I don't think he was anywhere near mentally healthy for a good while. Whatever reasons there were for that, I'm sad his life was so trainwrecked.

And I'm sorry to see him go without knowing if there was any resolution to those issues, if he ever did find some peace. Prayers go to his family.

I will say that i didn't like most of his music; i just wasn't a fan, but he did make significant contributions to the music industry. RIP.

How can I support someone so unstable like he became and a talented artist at the same time. I know this is probably really wrong of me to say, but in my view, the Michael Jackson who I knew was gone long before today. Today's reports just make me remember the good times of songs like Thriller (And that awesome music video), Got to be Startin' Somthing, Bad, Black & White, Beat It, and the song from Free Willy I really liked. Those were good times. :(
Going to have agree with this. These news makes me feel odd since I recall a thread when he came up a bit back and someone said he should have died twenty years ago when he was still on the top of his game. And I kinda have to agree, the later years he's been mostly...odd.

Rest in peace, past King of Pop.

Since he just sold a million tickets for the O2 arena, there are going to be a lot of gig staff out of work.

The O2 is rapidly becoming Britain's most popular entertainment venue, they'll find something to fill those dates.
