box office

I have done the see a movie twice in the theater thing (I think the last one with Arrival) but that's a lot of money to spend to go see a movie 4-6 times.

I did end up going to see Superman twice. My daughter and I went to see it the Sunday morning following the Thursday preview we went to.

I saw Avengers six times in the theater, and I've probably seen Star Wars in the theater at least that many times given how many times it's been released in my lifetime.

Box Office. It doesn't matter how much they pay Evans (or Downey Jr. for that matter).

Any future Marvel movies will not make what they used to make.

I don't know about that. The hype for Tom Holland Spider-man is still there

The next Avenger's movie are also highly anticipated based on how many people watched chairs being revealed. They both have a chance at a billion

It just might tell Marvel that "From now on legacy characters only!"

You sure about that?

Sources, just for you. I know you love them.
One of them, a Marvel movie, was smack dab in the midst of the pandemic.
The other one, Deadpool & Wolverine, was just last year.
And for every one of those there are at least two or three other major movies that only did a fraction of the money they were supposed to make. Like I said before this downward trend is not just a superhero thing, it's an industry wide thing.

Possibly, although Dragon isn't scheduled to leave theaters for a while so will most likely continue to outdistance Supes.

Superman may pass Final Reckoning.

Rebirth's PVOD window apparently begins today - a month since its initial release. HTTYD did the same period of time. So despite the Amazon scheduling announcement of Superman for August 15th being debunked, there's some reason to hope it might hit video in the next couple of weeks.

Freakier Friday is targeting a $42 million budget, with a $27-$30 million domestic gross and $10-$12 million internationally.

A lot easier to make your money back on a reasonably priced film.

The US Box Office - it's getting nowhere near the global box office of BVS and won't match MOS total (but won't be a million miles away).

WB are happy with it and it may topple over $600 million by the end so all good. I do think some of the articles and comments on the net/social media ignoring the global BO numbers in favour of the North America to compare against MOS & BVS are a little silly/petty.

The reviews are good so that should help buzz for a sequel and the next one could aim for BVS numbers if WB don't shit the bed in the mean time.

The only time anyone discusses global box office is to grind axes. This is the reason that box office trackers and industry news sites like Deadline and Variety usually discuss it in passing at most when reporting on individual films.

The success or failure of American movies continues to depend mainly on American box office receipts, and secondarily on PVOD and streaming fees. The low percentage of ticket prices that the studios collect for exhibition overseas puts it quite a bit down the list.
