box office

5. SUPERMAN ($551M)
6. F1: THE MOVIE ($545M)
7. THUNDERBOLTS* ($382M)
8. FANTASTIC 4 ($368M)

Still there can't be denying that Superman, Thunderbolts and Fantastic 4 should be doing at least double the box office income

In a perfect world at this time the box offices should look like this

5. SUPERMAN ($751M)
7. THUNDERBOLTS* ($782M)
8. FANTASTIC 4 ($568M)

The actual numbers are quite low. Superman 2025 should just about reach "Man of Steel's" 600 million. So how can they say it's a success if we're back to a 12 year old total? Shouldn't they be doing much better?

Box Office. It doesn't matter how much they pay Evans (or Downey Jr. for that matter).

Any future Marvel movies will not make what they used to make.
You sure about that?

Sources, just for you. I know you love them.
One of them, a Marvel movie, was smack dab in the midst of the pandemic.
The other one, Deadpool & Wolverine, was just last year.

Marvel has to give the audience what they want.
F4-2025, Thunderbolts, CA4, Eternals, Shang-Chi and all the added disposable D+ Shows weren't what audiences wanted.

I'd be happy if they did--but I would hope for something better than Deadpool and Wolverine. FWIW, I do think that the high point of the MCU is over for the next little while. And I don't think that Evans or Downey, by themselves, will bring it back. Spider-Man has a good chance because the character is popular around the world. All that said, I only care that the movies do well enough to get follow up movies. For example, I want to see more Eternals, Ant Man, and Captain Marvel--and I don't think that's going to happen.

That would be great, but it is on the optimistic end of the range. If they cross 600 million they'll have done swell.

Luis tends to be among the more optimistic and enthusiastic trackers out there on social media.

So do I, but as you said correctly, those aren't happening.
But it's not cuz of fans like us, it's cuz they made terrible movies that couldn't attract the general audience.
Fans like us can do 6, 10, 20 repeat viewings. But that won't be enough.
All these studios need to start reigning in their budgets, write fresh storylines, yet make them faithful adaptations.
They'll rake in the success, box office and people's hearts.

For those keeping track...

FANTASTIC FOUR is not a top-tier Marvel franchise. Never has been. These are FIRST STEPS aka BABY STEPS. So, $198M US/CAN, $368M globally (and counting) ain't bad. Remember, this ramps up into AVENGERS. That's the real payoff.

FF (2005): $154M…— Exhibitor Relations Co. (@ERCboxoffice) August 3, 2025

I think the hope was that it would be a top tier franchise going forward.
