Bottle Episodes

Anyway what I was going to say is that bottle episodes are sometimes some of the best of the year, and trump the more expensive episodes.

Agree. They often have to rely on stronger characterisation and some kind of a deeper 'message', or at the very least some interesting ideas. Because they can't rely on the special effects team or some kind of lush location shooting, they usually needed to pull out all the stops in other areas of story-telling instead.

Does 'Planet Hell' count? That was technically a standing set too, albeit one that was often redressed on each appearance.

I'm not sure about some episodes. In Cathexis for example, only the first scene is on a different set; the creepy victorian house. (And that set was meant to return in future episodes I believe). The rest of the episode is all on the Voyager sets. So is it a bottle show or not?

And do Sandrine's and the Paxau Resort count as standing sets or not?

And then there are episodes without extra sets, but with several special effects scenes such as Elogium. Are these bottle shows?
