Sounds exciting! Can't wait until the epic love story between Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru is told behind the backdrop of epic Galalatic war. The orgins of the green milk is finally exposed. We find out they during the events of "The New Hope" they had a uneasy alliance with Jabba thew Hut to help find Jedi in the universe since most of them were killed in the prequels. Jabba betrayed them ad while they are doing this they start to find out young Luke is start to manifest Jedi powers and they try to help him hide those powers so Jabba who is secretly working with the Empire won't find out.

Watch for an announcement about a movie or TV series revolving around these two.

I demand a 7 picture commitment to telling how Cornelius got a death sentence in 12 systems.

Does everyone in the Star War universe have to have a story? I get that it makes the universe larger but it seems excessive.

I don't really care about the Star Wars franchise a lot and it's certainly entertaining enough just watching everyone whine about there being too many star wars movies, but at the end of the day I really don't think this is all that ridiculous of a project. Boba Fett may not have been given anything interesting to do before, but that doesn't mean the character is worthless. A bounty hunter has very obvious story potential and would make a pretty solid bit of branching out for the star wars universe - finally showing us something that isn't just about noble jedi and charming rogues. And if you're going to do a bounty hunter movie, then Boba Fett is the obvious choice.

Add in James Mangold - I really liked the Wolverine, despite problems in the 3rd act and Logan really showed what he can do when let off the leash - and this is actually something I might go see in theaters.

The question is will people want to watch a character who never takes his helmet off and if he does take it off then you kind of ruin the appeal of the character which is mostly being that his outfit looks cool. In theory you would think he would be a better fit as a bad guy, even the main bad guy in other movie like a Solo sequel or a Lando movie which I think will happen.

Make it a cool movie, and no one will care about the helmet.

It didn't really work with either Dredd movies. I mean the second one was a decent movie and I think Bobba Fett will be decent but if your already coming out when their is Star Wars fatigue i'm not sure people are going to go out of their way to see it. Especially since Fett being seen as cool has kind of morphed over the years into a kind of sarcastic joke about how dumb it is to think he is cool because of his outfit instead of anything character related. It's like how making fun of Jar Jar Binks is now more fun tthan being outraged because of Jar Jar Binks. Plus if Kennedy is involved people are not going to trust her to do it right assuming their is even a perfect way of doing it right. Deserved or not people are kind of pissed off at her. Right now she is basically RIck Berman only the RIck Berman being allowed to do "Enterprise" despite the fact the general feeling is the franchise needs someone new to lead things.

The dredd movies were ok at best. And with the star wars name, that level of quality will probably still do decent business. But the heart of any project is always that the movie needs to be great, not ok. Do that, and none the rest matters (provided decent availability, of course).

As for star wars fatigue or people not trusting the leadership... eh, maybe. Maybe not. It's totally irrelevant to the question of Fett regardless, since there's no option around that except just not making star wars movies and that clearly isn't an option for Disney at this point.

A movie about a bounty hunter as an antihero or the villainous equivalent? Can Disney actually write a compelling script to do something original and risky?

Well, if "Solo" shows Han being deviated from his ANH persona and they show no reason to harden him up (don't tell me "Solo" will get a sequel, "Duo", to explain that - the seeds and sprouts need to start in the first movie - "Solo" - or else it's not going to be believed)...

And just what will they do with Baby Fatt Boba Fett worth doing, anyway? Is he Phasma's biological father? As if anyone cares, Phasma has been poorly written for two movies now. Oh, some great lines of dialogue (she had some compelling moments in TLJ) but then she gets killed only to reappear in the next movie for no reason then gets killed again. Like the Master from "Doctor Who".

But the franchise will wear itself out because it's trying to find stories to flesh out characters that don't need any expansion to begin with. Not when all they do is dip into ANH and TESB, find a few scenes that introduces characters, then turn those scenes into 2 hour movies, which adds nothing of substance. Without the movies, the events spoken of are supposed to be awe-inducing (or show the events and don't do it right, then everything looks stupid. Thankfully, from what I'd read and seen in reviews so far, the highly vaunted Kessel run does hold up to legend. Thankfully.)

We've seen that with pointless flicks in the form of "Rogue One" and "Solo", the former upending continuity since its events affect ANH that comes almost immediately after.

Never understood the love for Boba Fett nor am I interested in the character BUT James Mangold could make a really f'kin cool movie out of this. So I'm in.

The idea has been around for decades now. Good, bad, indifferent, it was rather inevitable.

And if Mangold gets the urge to kill Boba off in a really stupid way, like he did with another iconic character...

Well, too late, ROTJ already took care of that!

Did I ever say in my post that I’m boycotting?

My point is this: the general public may grow fatigued with Star Wars at this rate. It happened with Trek as we are all too familiar with. It may also lead to a decline in storytelling. That would not bode well for overall health for the franchise. And as all of us are Star Wars fans, I’m sure none of want the franchise to return to a dormancy because of diminishing returns.
The MCU has been going a decade now with an average of two movies released annually and several TV shows. So far Star Wars is just one movie a year with one TV series at any given time. Star Wars isn't in any danger of over saturation. Besides, even if you're worst case scenario does come to pass and the franchise reverts to dormancy, we'll have over a dozen movies and countless episodes of at least three animated series. We won't get bored.
They really ought to set this in the time between The Clone Wars and the "Classic Trilogy" era and, as noted, get Daniel Logan to star in it.
Daniel Logan is currently thirty years old, which is roughly how old Boba Fett would have been in ANH. Give this movie a year or two before filming starts, it really doesn't make much sense to have it set before ANH if they're going to use Daniel Logan.
2019: Episode IX
2020: Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story
2021: Rian Johnson Trilogy 1
2022: Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story
2023: Rian Johnson 2
2024: Jabba the Hutt: A Star Wars Story
2025: Rian Johnson 3
2026: Jawas: A Star Wars Story
2027: Episode X (because Disney won't be able to resist)
2028: Lobot: A Star Wars Story
2029: Episode XI
2030: Jerjerrod: A Star Wars Story
2031: The Cantina Band: A Star Wars Story
2032: Episode XII
2033: The Goddamn Mouse Droid on the Death Star: A Star Wars Story
No lie, I would be first in line to see Jerjerrod: A Star Wars Story.

I’m not a Star Wars fan, Bob Fet is probably the least interesting character to me, and yet, I know I’ll be buying the DVD.

It’s like Disney has discovered a digital version of a MSG to add to their movies.

Looking unlikely for there being a sequel to solo with the box office numbers, but if we have to see boba again just make him a baddie in a solo sequel, not a standalone film.

IIRC, Disney seems to be moving away from the EU's idea that Han and Boba Fett were mortal enemies.
I thought he was Jango's son, not a clone.
He's a clone, just without any of the genetic tampering that went into the Clone Troopers. Meaning he's an ordinary human who ages at a normal rate. As the Q-Tip Head put it in AOTC, "pure unaltered genetic replication."
