Long time since I was able to post a new image here.
I got a partial Milky Way shot.
Limited in field of view and framing due to a crappy stock lens, light pollution and roofs.

that out of the way, I think it’s pretty great for my lack of widefield experience.

I have to learn to process RAW video footage better (debayer etc) to get the color information.
But here is a composition of Saturn and Jupiter I shot a few days back.
It’s stacks of hundreds of video frames, processed in a couple of Astrophotography applications.
I shot with a dedicated planetary camera and my Newton telescope.
Surprisingly even 3 of Jupiter’s moons are visible.

To see in the dark
https://phys.org/news/2021-09-theory-darkness-vacuum.html

"In an everyday sense, the findings seem to surprisingly suggest the ability to produce light from the empty vacuum"

Perhaps even more strange:
https://phys.org/news/2021-09-non-radiating-source-electromagnetism.html

For many years, physicists have grappled with the idea of "meta-atoms," macroscopic objects that have alternating current that prevents the emission of electromagnetic energy....The device consisted of a simple radiating antenna placed inside a hollow dielectric disk with high permittivity—a setup that allowed the disk to be smaller than the wavelength of the emitted radiation. The researchers note that the design of the device was such that the electromagnetic radiation emitted from the antenna would interfere in a destructive way with waves produced in the dielectric disk, where they would cancel each other out.

I wonder if dark matter can hide this way...

Speaking of hiding…we may have narrowed down Planet Nine’s locale:

"This totally unexpected result can have transcendental implications, not only for our understanding of the large-scale structure of the universe, but on the settings for the creation and evolution of galaxies," explains Vicente Quilis, director at the DAA and head researcher for the project.

"Cosmic voids are the largest structures in the cosmos, and knowledge on their creation and evolution is essential to understand the structure of the universe," says Susana Planelles, co-director of the research.

This new finding, from research led by Imperial scientists, improves our understanding of the conditions around Earth that contribute to ‘space weather’, which can impact our technology from communications satellites in orbit to power lines on the ground.

New MOND theory?
https://phys.org/news/2021-10-mond-theory-account-cosmic-microwave.html

A pair of researchers at the Czech Academy of Sciences has been shaking up the astrophysics community with a new modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) theory that tosses out the concept of dark matter and instead backs up theories that suggest there is a type of as-yet undiscovered gravity responsible for attributes seen in the cosmic microwave background (CMB)....The new model begins by using the original MOND idea of two types of fields that behave together as a type of gravitational force—one is scalar, the other vector-based.

The new method allows the designers to either focus light onto a single point or disperse it into its constituent colors, producing a spectrum of pure colors, said Lin, corresponding author and a Rensselaer professor of physics, applied physics, and astronomy. The method uses two sources of light, positioned very close to one another, which create concentric waves of light that—as they travel toward the film—either build or cancel each other out.

The study, published today in Astrophysical Journal Letters, reports that in the last 2.5 billion years, more heavy metals were produced in binary neutron star mergers, or collisions between two neutron stars, than in mergers between a neutron star and a black hole.

imagine a telescope far away in the outer solar system, 10 or even 100 times farther from the Sun than Earth. The ability to look back at our solar system or peer into the darkness of the distant cosmos would make this a uniquely powerful scientific tool.

Galactic core
https://www.centauri-dreams.org/2021/11/02/going-after-sagittarius-a/

This is a good place for a solar foci mission to start. Big target....lots to see even if you cannot zoom in on the central black hole itself....target rich.

You get a little better with foci-scopes....Andromeda is next...followed by a foci-scope to look at Gilese 710...and then Proxima...once you have mastered foci-scopes. Barnard's Star may move too fast.

While I've been into amateur astronomy since my teen years, it has only been in the last few I've dabbled in the photographic end of it with hit and (mostly) miss results. All of my attempts so far were taken with an older 12 MP digital point & shoot using a Meade EXT 70, so I know it won't come close to rivaling some of the stellar (no pun intended) examples here. But I present some of what I've determined are the most successful, but at the same time know they are nothing to write home about considering my limitations in both equipment and experience.

I'm still trying to sort most of the wheat from the chaff, but just to start off as a sample.
First one brief lunar image at low mag.

And a collage of my planetary attempts of Venus, Mars, Jupiter & Saturn also at low power.
