The Force Awakens releases on Digital, April 1st and Blu-ray, April 5th.

Can't wait for this to come out. Already pre-ordered through Amazon.

Never been so glad bol.com was wrong. :D They had april 16th listed.

However, bol.com is now no longer listing the movie.

Sweet! I'm looking forward to watching it again. I've only seen it once and my wife hasn't seen it at all!

Does no one else find it ironic that it's being released on First Contact day? lol the universe works in mysterious ways.... or the force, depending on how you look at it.

^ Calling occupants of interplanetary craft? :)

As soon as April 1st rolls around, iTunes is getting a visit. From me.

I was thinking the same thing. Might be an Easter treat for me to get this. Not sure if I want to buy it digitally, even though it will come with a digital copy I'm sure.

April 5 is actually a popular day for sci-fi DVD/blu-ray releases this year. In addition to this, the complete set of Doctor Who season 9 and season 1 of The Expanse are also being released on that day. Maybe it is intentionally because of it being First Contact Day?

Hell, with everyone else getting something released on April 5, it actually disappoints me Paramount isn't releasing a special edition of FC for that day. It seems perfect marketing, April 5 landing on a Tuesday (the day DVDs and blu-rays are traditionally released in North America) and this year being both Trek's 50th anniversary and FC's 20th anniversary.

Damn, it would really seem that the Netherlands is getting a later release.....
I guess we can't be lucky all the time. I mean, we usually get all the Marvel movies a week before the US, so I suppose it's fair that you guys get this a week earlier

I wonder why they're delaying the 3D version until later this year. Usually 3D come out when the 2D does. Not that I care since I don't have 3D equipment I'm just curious.

I've said this before, but it amazes me that studios would have different releasedates for bluray/dvd through out the world. I mean, with the US getting it on the 5th, by the time april 6 starts, people in Europe will have illegally downloaded good quality versions.

Now, I'm sure die-hard fans will always buy, I mean, I will. But there are so many fans who will settle for a simple downloaded version. It's gonna cut into sales, wouldn't it?

Downloaders always gonna download. They won't have to wait 'til the 5th either.

I'll definitely be buying the Blu-ray, but I'm not as "I want it now!" as I thought I'd be. Just happy to be getting it. And thank goodness it has a proper making of instead of a handful of EPK-style featurettes.

Target is going to release a special edition with "exclusive bonus content." If it's anything like other Target exclusives, that will be a whole extra DVD that contains nothing but a five minute behind-the-scenes video or a music video.

I wish there was a special edition that included a toy ship, or a case shaped like Kylo Ren's mask, or something.

Well, at least it's not like STID where everyone had their own exclusive disc which had unique features on it.

Any news on the 3D-version? What kind of an release will that one be? I normally only buy one set of disks for a movie, so wondering if I should wait until the 3D-version arrives. This one does seem to have a pretty complete set of extras, so cant think of what else they would put in the 3D-version.

The pack contains over 20 minutes of bonus content, including a never-before-seen interview with the film’s breakout stars, Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn). You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at how the actors trained for their incredible stunts and fight scenes, interactions between the new and veteran cast members, a closer look at how the props team designed and produced some of the film’s new weapons, and lots more.
