Is SeaQuest DSV worth getting on Blu-ray?

Is SeaQuest DSV worth getting on Blu-ray? I started the show on Roku, and halfway through the 9th episode, it left Roku for Peacock. I already have a lot of streamers and dunno if I want to take on yet another one. Is this show worth getting on Blu-ray? I have it in my Amazon wishlist. I know the cast changes every season and the show shifts to sci-fi in S2 and grimy war stuff in S3. To those who've seen more than me, are all 3 seasons worth seeing?

I recently rewatched the whole thing, and for the most part I enjoyed it. But season two was very rough for me.

My list of "skip next time" episodes has six in season one, and twelve in season two.

As rocky as season one can be at times, I really lament that the show didn't stick with that approach.

Worth spending money on the Blu-ray, or more of a "just stream it" show?

What do you have to lose other than some time? ;)

You already know the basic shifts in focus for the show. Back from what i remember i loved the first season for its educational approach and unique setting ( and i'm also a huge Roy Scheider fan ;) ). It showed us a an alien world that is right here on Earth and is probably one of the biggest examples of a show that focuses on ecology at a time in the 90s where this was a novel thing.

Unfortunately it was not as popular explaining the shift in tone to a more action oriented show but the first season still stands as a trailblazer of sorts and i liked it a lot.

I remember liking the early episodes (before it left Roku), but I couldn't stand the end-credits guy. "Hi, you're stupid, I'm smart, let me dumb this down for you." I doubt that was the intention, but that's how I felt.

I'm a physical media hoarder, so my answer won't help you. :)
I have the movie wall: 12 shelves of DVD and Blu-ray, mostly movies with TV shows and a few non-fiction titles mixed in. How about you? I joke that it looks like I robbed a video store and got away with it. My friend who doesn't watch movies was like, "Oh, you have THIS one!"

Do you normally feel like someone trying to give you information is talking down to you?

Too many. The number is embarrassing. :D
When the viewers are likely adults and the information is something you learn in elementary school, yes.
I tried counting my movies once. Hundreds, hundreds of movies.

It's available (in the US) on the ad supported free service XumoPlay, which oddly, is co owned by NBC (Peacock's owner).
It has a Roku app as well...

Yes, you can add the app to your Roku TV or box. Use the search tab from the menu column and type Xumo Play to get to it faster than scrolling thru the streaming store.
Opening the app, it defaults to the Live TV section, auto playing the first live ''channel'' from the program grid. Arrow over to the side menu, and click the Drama tab. Scroll across the Drama row and you'll find Seaquest there...

I will try this today, thank you! I wanted to see all of S1 before deciding to get the Blu-ray set. Thank you so much! I'll let you know if it works.

I got the app, I found the show, thank you!

I've been a big fan for decades but haven't bought physical media in years so, no. That said, I wouldn't mind if Peacock gave the show a digital clean-up and remix and clipped it a little more widescreen.

Why crop it into widescreen and loose part of the original aspect ratio?
I'm strongly considering the Blu-ray, but now I can watch S1 proper and see if it's worth it. :)

Season one is good. Season two is a hit or miss. Season three: should be forgotten if there is ever a reboot.

I covered the scoring of the show and provided some commentary on episodes as well as quotes and some misc. stuff, starting with a January 31, 2017 post here:
Isn't S3 a continuation of S1-2, just with a different captain and a time jump of a few years?
