Bleach - Anime Disscussion (Spoilers)

Yeah, that would be cool. :p

Bad puns aside, after this episode it seems Hitsugaya at least has his back, but I'm not so sure about Matsumoto and Hinamori as they only succeeded in capturing them not making them submit.

^Heh.

And just plain awesome.

I've always thought Hitsugaya was destined to take the Top Spot in the Gotei 13.

Right now though, I still want to know what the heck the deal is with Ichigo's Dad.

Come on already.

Hitsugaya is a very young captain. I don`t know where this figure comes from but in other discussions I have read it seems he is about 100 years old which is very young for a Shinigami and definitely for a captain. Keeping that in mind his achievements are amazing.

Yes, I also found it fascinating to watch Hyourinmaru and his powers! Hitsugaya is already very powerful but he is far away from reaching his full potential. I also think one day he might be on the same power level as Yamamoto. Wow, this filler could of course have such a battle, Hyourinmaru vs. Yamamoto`s Zanpakutou spirit!

@ Technobuilder

I read about a recent interview with Tite Kubo. He said that there will be what he calls an “Isshin mini arc” but it will be a while. After the filler we get the Ichigo/Ulquiorra fight. The second part of this story just came out in Japan in volume 41. I love that story and it is my favourite part of Bleach!

Without spoiling anything, what came next and is still ongoing is a Very Big Battle involving a lot of characters and it is covering a lot of chapters already. Nobody knows how much longer this will take.

Afterwards Kubo will return to the aftermath of the Ichigo/Ulquiorra fight. I was amused when I read the brief description of volume 41 at Wikipedia. The description is accurate but leaves out everything that is actually important and which makes this story so special. Let me just say “The Lust” and surrounding chapters will have a huge impact on the relationship between Ichigo, Ishida and Orihime! This could easily become as long as the Very Big Battle. Tite Kubo mentioned that he is also writing a Chad story. My guess is it will be inserted here, too.

If I remember correctly, he said after this there will be another storyline and THEN he will address Isshin`s origin. He will probably include Ryuuken`s story at the same time and their relationship with Urahara.

It makes me wonder though, just how long this series is going to be if we have all that and then the actual story content.

At least 300 I'd guess since 240 is almost upon us already. Probabally a lot more than that though. Not that I'm complaining though, since as long as he keeps writing it I'll keep watching/reading it.

Finally. Awesome, I'll have to go aquire it later.

EDIT: It was good, but one thing bugs me a lot.
How the hell can Urahara go to Soul Society? I thought that it was physically impossible for him to pass through the gate. It was awesome to see him in action again though.

Lot's of stuff happened in this episode 240; they're extremely interesting and puzzling.

Heineko and the other Zanpakuto were not taken back by Rangiku and the other Shinigami, who's name I just can't remember. Instead they were put in a riding prison.

Muramasa has apparently consumed a hollow and is using it as its body. I still would like to know to who he belongs. (And where the hell Zaraki and his pink-haired Lieutenant are of to.) He has yet to adjust to his new body, and bled when he used his invisible chakra strings (excuse me, reiatsu strings) technique and lost control over it.

And then the big one: Byakuya frees the two captured Zanpakuto. Then goes to protect Muramasa along with Senbonzakura. Apparently he does this to defend his pride. I'm seriously wondering what protecting the man that ripped his Zanpakuto out of him has got to with his pride. Especially considering he claims or hints at more like he likes the freedom Zanpakuto's now have, but how that has got anything to do with his pride is beyond me.

Anyhoo, the plot has thickened, and the mysteries deepened, desperately llooking forward to the next episode.

I have watched the new movie "Fade to Black" a few days ago but haven`t found the time yet to write a review. I like it very much and I hope I can post a review in a few days.

But I have just finished writing about the new episode, Bleach 240:

The scene at the beginning left me with exactly the same feelings I had when Nemu was smothering Ishida with her boobs so that Mayuri could heal him and whatever else he might have done without telling anybody at the same time. To me it was just barely funny because after what Mayuri had done to the Quincies and his family it was not surprising that Ishida was terrified. The whole scene felt very tasteless to me.

This was no different. I found it interesting that my seven-year-old daughter never laughed. She was concerned and then upset that Gegetsuburi apparently died. She said quite annoyed if Mayuri wants to experiment on a Zanpakutou spirit he should have chosen his own. I understand and agree for the most part except that I consider sacrificing any “sample” a crime. These are sentient beings. This was nothing better than sacrificing Quincies in the name of science in the past. I am sure, if Ishida finds out about this he would go after Mayuri in an instant. Depending on how things go it is even possible that Ishida would side with the Zanpakutou spirits against the Shinigami. But from what I have seen so far it is not very likely that Ishida or any of Ichigo`s human friends will get an important part in this story if at all.

With this scene Oomaeda lost the rest of any respect I still had for him. If Gegetsuburi would have been Zangetsu Ichigo would have fought for him with everything he has got! Oomaeda didn`t do anything except whining mixed with half hearted protests and then he told his Zanpakutou spirit better they dissect him than me. I know that this is a filler and somehow also Oomaeda`s Zanpakutou will be restored including its spirit. That is good to know but still, Oomaeda doesn`t deserve it.

It was interesting to learn that this is not Muramasa`s first body. I wonder, is Muramasa like a parasite, a spirit that takes over a living person, maybe including changing his or her appearance and when that body is drained he is moving to the next? If that is true, I wonder who is the owner of this body? Is it somebody we know? Maybe that person is fighting Muramasa`s spirit. Maybe I am crazy but for a moment I wondered if the face looks a bit like Kenpachi`s. No, probably not. I think my imagination is running away with me.

The fight Ichigo vs. Senbonzakura was exciting. The way he stepped in front of Muramasa to defend him was not surprising but that Byakuya stopped that fight and seemed to have joined Muramasa was unexpected. It seems he also freed Haineko and Tobiume.

What makes this story so interesting is that to a certain degree I can actually understand Byakuya especially after what just happened in Mayuri`s lab. This is not a black and white issue. I very much disagree with Muramasa`s methods and his goals smell more like revenge than actually caring about fellow Zanpakutou spirits. Nevertheless, I wondered for some time if these Zanpakutous are alive what choice do they actually have when his wielder demands to use the spirit`s power? We learned that a Zanpakutou spirit can refuse Bankai but I heard nothing about the Shikai. What Byakuya described as liberation included letting loose a crazy mass murderer like Kazeshini, blocking Hyourinmaru`s memories and twisting the desires of others. I agree that Muramasa has to be stopped but I also think the relationship between Shinigami and Zanpakutou has to be reconsidered. Some relationships already work very well but others obviously leave a lot to be desired. It is time that also Zanpakutou spirits have some rights. They are not slaves.

The choice of words, that Byakuya want to follow his inner desires could mean that he is under Muramasa`s influence. That is possible but I am hoping that this story won`t be that simplistic. Byakuya said that his inner desire is to protect his pride. What does that mean? I don`t think he just means Rukia. He could very well also mean Senbonzakura. Fighting for the freedom of his Zanpakutou spirit and that of others could be seen as his way of protecting him.

From what I can see right now I think labelling Byakuya as a traitor is premature. I need to learn more about his motives before I can come to a conclusion. But I can already say, although Byakuya has never been a character I find likeable I always found him very interesting and he is an important part of the Bleach universe. He showed that he can learn in his own way. Maybe Byakuya`s apparent rebellion is something Ichigo inspired in him. He would never admit it. He probably doesn`t even realize it. Ichigo fought passionately against incredible odds in order to save his sister, the sister he was willing to kill himself all in the name of his sense of honour and justice. Maybe Byakuya feels as strongly about Senbonzakura but this time he wants to fight for his Zanpakutou spirit no matter what obstacles he has to overcome.

I am very curious how this story will develop in the next episodes. Especially because Ichigo, Byakuya and Renji have such a long history together this should be very interesting indeed.

Well, I don't believe for a minute that strait arrow Byakuya would be a traitor. He has to have something up his sleeve, if you ask me. It's just not in his character.

I am sure also Tosen doesn`t see himself as a traitor. He is convinced that his view of justice and honour is the right one and whoever disagrees with that is the enemy.

Of course Byakuya is not on Tosen`s level but nevertheless, Byakuya`s sense of justice and honour is certainly not identical with mine. The more I think about it the more I am convinced that Byakuya is indeed supporting Muramasa on his own free will and not because he is being manipulated.

I would say so far he is not a traitor – yet. If he intends to find a way to end this conflict and stop the bloodshed, I would even welcome that. If he starts using the methods of a terrorist he will become a traitor no matter what justice and honour excuses he thinks of.

He's not being manipulated indeed, as Muramasa is surprised himself at Byakuya's actions.

^That reminds me...

Is Yachiru ever going to go all out? I want to know the reason she's a vice-captain other than she's best friends with Kenpachi.

Strange thought... Maybe Yachiru is in fact Kenpachi's Zanpakuto and has just always been in human form?

That thought occurred to me at one point as well, but as 3DMaster pointed out there was that whole flashback thing during the Soul Society arc showing how they met. It would be quite ironic though if she was and he was hanging out with his zampukuto all the time, even knowing it's name but didn't realize it. It....does actually sound like something Kenpachi might do.

The problem with Bleach is the problem with anime generally: there's no sense of discipline or proportion in the story-telling. Imagine an anime series built around the kernel of the first few episodes. A series where a young man battles with demonic spirits even while continuing his life as an otherwise average adolescent. You'd have the animated equivalent of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In other words, a damned good serial drama.

I think the only way to defeat Aizen is to use the mod souls created for battling the bounts to generate illusions to "out-illusion" the illusions master.

It's not really a problem with anime as a whole but with shows of the shounen action genre (super powered martial-arts series aimed at teens). They offen just fail to deliver. Anime is medium like movies or television, however, comprised of many different genres and targeted to lots of different age groups.

You can watch anime about the medical field, about music, mind-bending sophisticated works, compelling myssteries, romantic dramas, anime about female traffic cops, science fiction of multiple varieties, anime about playing board games, economics, historical fiction, anime that deals with sensitive and taboo issues, sports anime, anime about anime nerds, the list goes on and on.

Also while I enjoyed the first part of Bleach a lot (especially the mini-arcs with Orihime and Ishida) it would get old and stale pretty fast if that was all the series was about. I prefer shows with long continuing storylines as opposed to the serialized "problem of the week" format.
