Blackadder!!!

The actor who played Baldrick hosted a documentary series called The Worst Jobs In History. It's informative and entertaining.

Check out the documentary "Blackadder Rides Again!", lots of good info about the show, and interviews with everyone.
It's funny though, when I found out that Hugh Laurie was going to be in that doctor show and everyone seemed soo amazed at his acting, and didn't seem to know who he was. I thought, uh, he's from Blackadder, what's the big deal? How can you not know who he is?
But on the other hand, I only recently found out about Fry and Laurie and watched the entire series.
Oh yeah, check out the Blackadder Christmas Special too, it's pretty funny.

Pfffft Every time we see Gregory House we expect to hear "What ho, Jeeves!"

And he hosts Time Team, one of my favourite shows (Probably because that's as close as I'll ever get to time travel)..

And does condensed audio books of some of the Discworld novels.

I'm just amused that the actor who plays Percy was Oliver Mace on Spooks (and for that matter, Hugh Laurie had a similar role on the series as well).

I just finished the second series today, and have moved onto the third one--the first episode was a pretty funny send-up of elections.

A question, though. On DVD, there are the first four series, and then the specials, but checking online, some of the specials aired before series four. Should I just stick with the DVD order, or should I be extra nerdy and make this more complicated?

Either way would work!

Chronological order:

The Blackadder: Medieval
Blackadder II: Elizabethan
Comic Relief Special: Civil War
Blackadder The Third: Georgian
Christmas Special: Victorian
Blackadder Goes Forth: WWI
Back And Forth: Millennium

But because they're all standalones, you could watch the four series before the specials.

The last episode of series 1 really didn't do anything for me, other than the fantastically bloody end. I'd say the high point of that year would either be in the first episode (the decapitation of Richard III is side-splitting) or the one where Edmund is appointed the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Hey, I got my RL nickname because of the last episode of the first series of Blackadder, (The Black Seal)!

"Sean the Irish Bastard". (Admittedly, not as cool a nickname as "Unspeakably Violent Jack, the bull-buggering beast killer of no fixed abode.")

In fact, when my friends are getting together and they are thinking of who to invite out, they often say, "What we need now, is a real bastard!".

You're right Percy, that is amazing... I thought they only came in boxes of ten! :guffaw:

Wasn't one of the ideas for a fifth series going to be about a 60's era rock band (the 'Black Adder Five')?

And then there was the American Blackadder -- 1775, starring Ryan O'Neal and Adam West. (Read up on it here.)

I know it's a little late to be jumping in here, but in case anyone checks back on this thread...

The rock band series was one of the ideas they kicked around for a while. The drummer was going to be a guy named...wait for it...Bald Rick.

The pilot for 1775 was actually filmed, but of course the show was never picked up (or it would be better known). I've finally managed to get my hands on it after all these years, plus some obscure Blackadder specials like The Army Years. If anyone's interested in any of this, shoot me a note.

I've always felt this was Rowan Atkinson's best performance. It still bothers me to this day that he gets more mileage out of Bean then he does out of anything else he's done...at least here in the states.
