Bring your spoilers here. I don't know when I'll be seeing it, but I'll post my thoughts when the time comes.

Don't forget to put up the poll!

I didn't realize the world premiere was tonight, otherwise I would've put up the review thread sooner. I'll have to watch that later.

So is someone becoming the new Black Panther? I thought they'd intimated they weren't going to replace Boseman?

I haven't seen the movie, but Black Panther has never been one person, but a title. There have been many Black Panther's and there will be many more. They won't recast T'Challa. But there WILL BE a new Black Panther.

Still trying to decide if i'll go November 9th on release date but it's the middle of the week and i have work next day or if will go immediately on the first Saturday - haven't been that excited for an MCU movie in a while now ( most of Phase 4 was kind of lacklustre).

Just watched the red carpet for the world premiere and one thing of interest popped up:

Dominique Thorne auditioned for Shuri for Black Panther and because of that audition, they had her immediately in mind when it came to Wakanda Forever.

The movie will feature a song from Rihana, which will be a tribute to Chadwick

Turtletrekker, have you tried asking one of the mods to add a poll?

Will be seeing it next Tuesday, really excited. It will be hard to stay away from spoilers but i'm pretty sure it'll be Shuri who will be the next Panther ( unless Marvel pulled a massive fast one on all of us and they've been known to do that ;) ).

That's like saying that Batman has never been one person because you have had multiple people wearing the cowl. The same could be said for Iron Man, Spawn, Wonder Woman, and so many other characters that have legacies. While it's true that the Black Panther title has been a mantle (not sure when that was established in the comics exactly), the main Black Panther has been T'Challa, so much so that when you mention Black Panther, many people who know the anything about the comics will think of him first or think of him only. And though there have been multiple Black Panthers, the vast, vast, vast majority of comics stories are about T'Challa. He is the definitive Black Panther. In the comics, Killmonger was BP for a minute, Kevin Cole had a relatively short run, and Shuri's time as BP was largely concurrent with T'Challa who also still alive and using the BP name/costume.

There has been a push of late to put the mantle over T'Challa to make it more in line with the MCU.

I am typing briefly, because it will be a couple of days before i see it... A couple of hopes:

1. Hoping this will be one of the biggest domestic hauls for the MCU, as many of my friends are African American, and Black Panther has become a cultural icon. (For example, many have said they will go to the movie wearing white). A few people were able to see it last night and they loved it, so I have no doubt it will be a good film.

Also, I want to stick it to the vax fundementalists who hate Letitcia Wright. I am definitely for the vaccine, but in trying to be truly live a multicultural life, i know that vax fundementalism just pushes people farther away from taking it, and NOT helping the COvid situation.

2. I am hoping they might actually have Nakia be Black Panther, and maybe have that she had married T'Challa beforehand and maybe even is pregnant with his baby. It seems like Shuri will (especially with having Riri becoming the new scientist it seems), but it seems like SHuri would complain too much about the job, and how it takes her away from science.

if you guys DO respond to me, it might be a while before i read it.... and we will see how far off I am my predictions.

I watched the latest Martin Freeman vehicle this morning with about 6 people and I thought It was pretty good. The last battle was rather messy though. The cgi could do with more work.
I liked all the new characters but I would have had the inventor a different ethnicity for diversity. A Scottish ginger perhaps? :)
Speaking of her, they never explain her obsession of making iron man suits. I thought the reveal would be that she was Tony’s illegitimate daughter or something.

Nr Nimbus was handled quite well. I wasn’t expecting him to be over 500 years old. Guy must be bored out of his mind being stuck in that underwater sea for so long.

There might be a House of Dragon situation with that mid credit scene.

I watched it tonight. Really enjoyed it.

I watched the first movie in 2018, had a bad cold and was almost falling asleep during it. 2022 and again I have a bad cold (after almost 4 years without one!) and a really long day where everything went wrong from the moment I woke up. Anyway, what I want to say is that I enjoyed this more the first movie. It had my attention throughout. It's the 2nd longest marvel movie after Endgame but it definitely didn't feel like that. I didn't cry but lots of people, mainly men, were crying around me. It's an emotional film, it doesn't have so many jokes, I love who the mantle of Black Panther was passed too and I think the cast carried this movie so well. If anyone says that marvel is pushing some female agenda with this film then they are talking out their ass. It's not the case. It's a Black Panther movie. That's it. It's going to be a big hit.
