Better Than The Regulars

Spock's Barber

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
The Academy Awards has The Best Supporting Actor/Actress category. Using that criteria, which guest star(s) ‘stole the show’ from the main TOS regulars in 1 episode?

It’s not my favorite episode but during ‘Is There In Truth No Beauty’, I thought David Frankham and Diana Muldaur were both outstanding in their roles.

And your winner is....?

Susan Oliver without doubt.
Lockwood and Kellerman.
Obviously Mark Leonard in both roles
Barbara Anderson.
John Colicos.
Michael Forest.
Celia Lovsky.
William Marshall.
Michael Ansara.
James Daly.
Melvin Belli.

How could I have forgotten Michael Dunn as far as stealing the show in Plato's stepchildren?
I despise the episode but I do put it on every once in a great while just to see his performance

Agreed. The episode is at the bottom of my TOS list, but Dunn was very good, just as he was as Dr. Miguelito Loveless in The Wild, Wild West.

Interesting...Perhaps the only time the love interest is not with any of our regulars? (Even Kirk's attempt to kiss Miranda was for distraction)

Yikes nobody else found Decker too hammy?

Lenard and Montalban are the answers here, I think.

For actress I'd go with Jane Wyatt and Charlene Polite (one of the only competent and developed female guest stars in the series who's not also a love interest).

Ricardo Montalban
Mark Lenard
Roger C. Carmel

Montaban and Carmel had big, showy parts, but Lenard delivered outstanding work in a more understated fashion.
Don't forget Jane Wyatt (who was also a 'Star' in the Hollywood Studio system, She really nails the scene between her and Nimoy in Spock's quarters in TOS S2 - "Journey To Babel". She made the most with practically every line and scene she was given and IMO really steals that scene.
