"Breaking Bad" is coming to an end, but fans of the hit drama should not despair. A "Breaking Bad" spinoff featuring the sometimes unethical attorney Saul Goodman has been given the green light.
"Better Call Saul" will feature Bob Odenkirk as Goodman in a one-hour series that is being positioned as a prequel to "Breaking Bad," focusing on Goodman before he became the lawyer for chemistry-teacher-turned-criminal Walter White. AMC and Sony Pictures Television announced the deal in a joint statement.

Since this is a prequel we may be seeing other characters from Breaking Bad. The caption on the image in the article indicated that Jonathan Banks ('Mike') will also be in this show. I also wonder if we will see Gus? Although we are not sure if this will also take place in New Mexico or another state. If we do see Gus me may also see Tio and Tuco Salamanca, many possibilities!

You don't want a criminal lawyer, you want a CRIMINAL lawyer.

Awesome news.

That is one of my favorite lines from the show. Good news. I didn't read the article, but I'm assuming Vince Gilligan is the showrunner, right? Regardless, its Saul, so I'm there.

Peter Gould, who wrote the episode that Saul first appeared in, would be showrunner. Vince will be involved, though.

I'd rather have a sequel, so they can sidestep the aging issue, but I think this is just about the only sound way to do a spin-off from this series. Odenkirk will need to push himself as an actor, though, if he wants to carry a series.

I think this would have made a great half hour with an emphasis on comedy. I hope it's not too serious.

I'm stoked, but I'm in agreement that a half hour program might be a better option if they're going for the humor aspect. Full hour it's probably a dramedy then.

Not really sure how they're going to pull it off, but just the fact Gilligan is involved definitely makes me want to watch.

Hopefully they'll come up with another series long arc of some sort, and that it isn't just Saul helping out a succession of shady criminals (although I have to admit, a Law and Order-style procedural based around a guy like Saul Goodman would be kind of hilarious to watch). :D

It's being reported that Jonathan Banks has joined the cast, Aaron Paul is in talks for a recurring role and they want Bryan Cranston to appear. Dean Norris however, is not interested.

Uhh, I've seen "Under the Dome". Dean Norris has no cause to be above a spinoff
