Best things about your least favorite series.

Enterprise - great visuals in the opening credits (shame about the godawful "song") and Porthos was kinda cute for a small dog. Otherwise, did nothing for me.

DS9: Faith portrayed in (usually) a positive way, and Kira (before she started drooling over Odo and lost any semblance of credibility).

What I liked about DS9:

The story arcs relating to The War, Klingon political intrigue etc.

The honor paid to the actors that portrayed Koloth, Kang and Kor.

We got to learn more about the Ferengi culture and home-world.

The nice hat-tip to TOS with Trials and Tribbleations.

ENT had Dr. Phlox, who at first looked to be Neelix all over again (one of the worst things in the awful Voyager) but emerged as an interesting, complicated caharcter with a disturbingly alien streak. It also gave us Jeffrey Combs (one of Trek's all-time greatest actors) as an Andorian (one of Trek's all time greatest aliens). Connor Trineer was good as Trip.

I'll have to get back to you on Voyager.

ENT is my least favorite of the shows, but I do like:

Trip - he had to grow on me, but in the end he was a very likeable character - very unassuming and down-to-earth. Definitely my favorite ENT character. Really, the only one I ended up liking, in fact!

Porthos! - it doesn't get any better than dogs in space! :techman:

The bridge - I actually quite liked that bridge set on ENT. And the look of the ship, for that matter.

The conflict between T'Pol and the Vulcan High Command - I did like the way she stood up to them. That whole little subplot was good.

My second-to-least favorite of the shows is TNG, but I do like the following:

The Cardassians - TNG gave the Cardassians a good start. This left DS9 with good material to work with regarding this particular race.

The Maquis - TNG gave the Maquis a good start and also left DS9 good material to work with with regard to this particular group.

Q - the first Q episode was lame, but after that he got better, and Deja Q is one of the funniest episodes in Trek.

Ron Moore and the Klingons - I greatly disliked Worf (especially so when he is with his idiotic son)...but I did like how Ron Moore really got going on making the Klingons into a more 3-D race that was about more than grunting and fighting. This also was continued on DS9 and eventually netted us Martok, who is my favorite Klingon ever. But if it hadn't been for Ron Moore getting his start on TNG, this might not have happened.

Best things about TAS:

Some of the writing was excellent, better than some TOS eps.

We finally got some really alien (non-humanoid) aliens on the Enterprise.

They got the original actors to do the voice work.

I think the TAS theme music is catchy.

Vastly disappointed in Enterprise.

Vastly disappointed in the Temporal Cold War.

Loved the idea of the Temporal Cold War.

You had a series set in the past (which was perhaps its most institutional flaw (were we really supposed to get excited about a ship that can go Warp 5?), but the TCW opened up all sorts of storytelling possibilities to include the things that we were most familiar with. And, at the same time, without screwing with canon, since there's all sorts of SF storytelling conventions (time bubble, variant timeline, etc., without even resorting to the Dreaded Reset Button) to keep the "future" the way we remember it.

All that potential...but never to be.

Voyager:

I love the Borg so I was glad to see one enlisted in Voyager's crew halfway in the series. Too bad it meant Kes had do go because I liked Kes. I loved the idea of a stranded ship. At times, it reminded me of TOS, whose concept was to explore the unknown. Of course, given a different era and a different situation, the feeling was different.

Enterprise:

I loved the idea of a Temporal Cold War. I think it was terrific. Did I mention I absolutely love time travel? Too bad it had to end with a big red reset button and strangely enough, everyone remembers it but it is never mentioned in the future. Maybe it should have been set in TNG-era, or do a whole series about that.

I liked the bits about developping relations with the neighborhood, especially those we know like all those future Federation members. Many have said it before, including me, but season 4 was what Enterprise should have been from the start. It would have been a lot more interesting.

I also liked the idea of Romulan plots to interfere in the relations of its neighborhood. Maybe there should have been a bit more.

I like the idea of this thread. Very positive. :bolian:

What I liked most about Voyager was the characters. However badly executed an episode was, I almost always loved the characters of that series. In hindsight that may be the decisive factor that kept me watching all seven seasons; I really cared for Tuvok, Kes, Seven of Nine, Paris, the Doc and Neelix.

Brent Spiner.

Hey, he's exactly why I watched Enterprise's fourth season - and it was worth it. Lot of good stuff there too, generally.

Enterprise is my least favorite series but:

-I really liked the Vulcan trilogy. It made up for how the vulcans acted before

-When I watched Season 3 on DVD, I actually warmed up to it in what it did with the characters. I still think the Xindi weren't written very well, but when I ask if they could come back for Season 4, than the writers at least did something right.

-Terra Prime was a very good Series finale and TATV wasn't that bad of an epilogue to celebrate all the years of Trek being on the air. Of course I've only seen it once.

Enterprise:

-Jeffrey Combs was great
- Some depth was finally added to the Andorians after years of fan speculations
-The Vulcan arc, and season four in general, wasn't bad
-Trek on TV finally got the level of special effects it deserved

Least favorite: ENT
Best things about it: Connor Trinneer and John Billingsley - they both were believable and interesting in their characters; it's too bad they were saddled with that show and supporting cast.

Voyager: Like several others have said, The Doctor. I thought the way his character was developed was excellent. :)

Voyager:

First female captain (just wish it had not been Janeway)

Another Vulcan as a regular on the cast. I liked Tuvok.

The doctor, excellent character.

Tom Paris, don't know why but always liked him.

The show had potential, too bad they screwed up a lot of it.

Absolutely agreed.

To bad it went soo wrong! :(

Enterprise

The Temporal Cold War started out kinda cool. It would have been awesome if the writers had had any semblance of a plan.

Hoshi Sato was dead sexy.

Connor Trinneer is a great, charismatic actor. I like him a lot on Stargate Atlantis as well.

I liked Dr. Phlox, Malcolm Reed, & Shran.

Best production values of any series.

Overall, the show had a bunch of really good episodes. Unfortunately, those episodes were too few & far between the make the show worth regular viewing. I hope that CBS does a "Best of Enterprise" DVD release.
