Best things about your least favorite series.

What is something that you do like about your least favorite Star Trek series? An actor or character, a relationship, a concept, a really good episode or scene. I don't believe that anyone can hate 100% of any of these shows.

I don't mean "the fact that it ended/was cancelled" either, so I'll take care of that response right off the bat. :)

My least favourite of the Trek series is probably Voyager, but I have to admit that through all of the silly story lines, the character development and interaction for some of the main crew was done very well. The Doctor & Seven, and Tom & B'Elanna especially.

The Doctor is also one of my all time favourite Trek characters. Scene stealer. He wasn't interested in becoming human like Data or Seven, he wanted to discover himself, like Odo.

I liked the fact that Voyager had Species 8427. The Borg couldn't assimilate them. Unlike other Star Trek baddies; there was no rationale for their actions. NOT explaining everything can be effective for story development.

Voyager had Robert Picardo as the Doctor.

A very fine actor, the perfect role for him, and he obviously loved playing it.

Did you see the episodes where everything was explained? The ones where they took human form and reproduced Starfleet Academy, etc.?

The Borg invaded their space and 8472 assumed that all of the species in our universe had the same intentions as the Borg. Then they made nicey-nice with Janeway and promised never to invade the Milky Way again.

Then they had some cake.

TNG:
I liked the whole idea of the Borg (until the wussification on VOY).
I liked Q (the mischievous version)
I liked Barclay (a brilliant, but otherwise ordinary human on The Grand and Glorious Enterprise-D!!)

Voyager:

First female captain (just wish it had not been Janeway)

Another Vulcan as a regular on the cast. I liked Tuvok.

The doctor, excellent character.

Tom Paris, don't know why but always liked him.

The show had potential, too bad they screwed up a lot of it.

Voyager: first female captain and the doctor. Still the only series I don't own on DVD.

Some of the things I like about Voyager:

The EMH, Tuvok and Tom Paris
Character development of 7o9 and the Doctor
The special effects
Many of the episodes, for example "Year of Hell", "Scorpion", "Blink of an Eye", and many more
The appearance of Barclay and (to a lesser extent) Troi
Captain Proton!

the list goes on

Voyager may be my least favourite Trek show, but I love it nonetheless

VOY: Some of the characters (Chak, Paris, B'elanna, EMH, the eternally underused Tuvok) were the reason I kept watching.

I also love the aesthetics of the Borg, if not the way VOY totally destroyed them. ;)

And I like Brad Dourif.

I'm not sure hether DS9 or Enterprise is my least favorite...

DS9 - great reccuring characters, especially Garak :D
The wormhole and Gamma Quadrant.
Strong woman characters.

Enterprise - Phlox and Trip. Nice effects. I love main title theme and end theme.

I'll probably remember more things later...

My least favorite series was TOS. Best thing about that series? Scotty. He was cool, a great engineer, and a fine commander as well. He could have been as good a starship captain as he was an engineer.

DS9: I like that they did something different with Trek. Instead of collection of mostly stand alone episodes where everything was the same at the beginning and end of the episode, the last half of the series was a giant evolving epic. And "Chimera" is one of my favorite episodes of "Star Trek."

ENT: Dr. Phlox was the best combination of humor and drama is the entire franchise. He wasn't obnoxious and childish like Neelix. He was mature, respectable, and wise. He enjoyed life to the fullest, and was devoted to making others do the same.

Say something nice about Enterprise?

Jolene Blalock was cute. Simultitude was a great episode of Trek... Initially, I liked the overall premise of the show.

People,

Well, ENT is my least favorite, but I can find a few things to say I liked about it.

I liked Dr. Phlox, since he was part briliant physician, interstellar witch doctor and homeopathic medicine devotee. It was also high time that a physician be an extraterrestrial.

I also enjoyed the look at the Andorians. Shran is one of my favorite characters, especially as his morality is somewhat ambiguous.

And the 22nd century Enterprise looked good, kind of a cross between a Constellation-class and Miranda-class starship.

What I liked about ENT:

Phlox- I loved the fact that he was a little eccentric and brought a little humor to an otherwise dull show.

Trip- I really don't know why I liked him, I just did. Maybe it was the southern accent Connor used for him.

Shran- What an awesome chacter he was. Jeffrey Combs did an excellent job of portraying him.

I also liked the dynamic that Trp and Archer had with each other.
