A good bad influence

I'm in the mood for a poll, so I asked myself: What might be the most favorite season finale (or to put it differently – last episode) of all the Star Trek seasons? I'm leaving out the series finales deliberately as I think they have the "bonus" of also ending a whole series.

Oh, you can vote for as many episodes as you want. :)

Voyager's "Basics #1"

Very exciting episode with the Kazon taking over the ship and the crew stranded. I had to wait six months before I had the opportunity to watch "Basics #2". That was six long months!

Went with: 'The Best of Both Worlds', 'Redemption', 'The Jem'Hadar', 'The Adversary', 'Call to Arms' and 'Scorpion'.

"A Call to Arms" without a doubt. Scorpion was good, but ultimately dissapointing as I felt that the show never really paid it off (but Voyager never paid ANYTHING off).

"The Best of Both Worlds" was not only the best season finale in Star Trek history, but it was also one of the best season finales in all of television. (Especially at the time it came out.)

Cliffhangers have become more common and more daring since then, but it really blew the doors off when it first aired.

Best of Both Worlds. Doesn't get better than that. Call to Arms was great, and really set the table for season's 6 and 7, but it didn't make for the same agonizing summer that BOBW did.

"Learning Curve" is at an unfortunate disadvantage as it wasn't intended as the season ender. "The 37s" was, but UPN shuffled the schedule around and took 4 episodes from season one and used them for season 2 (they did the same for season 2/3, but for different reasons).

Call to Arms beats Best of Both Worlds easily

I tend to agree, especially since it was not a cliffhangar in the traditional sense. That final shot of the Defiant and Rotaran joining the fleet had me cheering and feeling more excited about Trek than I had in a very long time. The whole episode was riveting. I was even more impressed by the fact that it took them awhile to resolve the changed situation.

Me2, I wasn't watching TNG for BOBW so I didn't have the suspence, but it was definitly the best.

Call to Arms was however one I did watch as it aired so had the suspence for.
I remember alot of people at the time thought that fleet at the end was going straght back to DS9 to retake the station which kinda ruined the suspence.
But if you think about it they coudln't have been since SISKO197 programe would have been pointless if they were going back so soon.
