Best Performance by Series

You are free to think however you want, But DS9 easily had the most developed and intricate story in the franchise.......it's not even close. The other series were in fact DESIGNED to not have significently complex stories, favoring a episodic approach.
Let's not forget Enterprise. Though it started as episodic, it ended up serialized like DS9.

Well, yes......for a considerably shorter period of time, and in a somewhat half hearted attempt to improve meager ratings. I don't think it makes the grade next to DS9, although I'm glad it was mentioned. It was at least an attempt of later trek to go towards serialization.

It was simply the worst performance of a TV actor I have ever seen, its only bested by his performance in "Far Beyond The Stars", I mean just so effing fake and staged and unreal.
Just absolutely terrible.

To each their own, I suppose. :vulcan:

I certainly respect your opinion ... Out of curiosity do you feel this is a problem isolated to this (and a few other episodes, as you indicated)? Or do you take issue with Brooks' approach to the character as a whole?

Brooks acting as a whole was terrible and "Far Beyond the Stars" was awful imo and purely because of Brooks - his acting and his idea. What place does 50s American have in a show showing the 24th century?? Its so obviously and desperately trying to be serious and say something but its a freaking sci-fi show where everyone has been on equal ground for centuries already. Just hideous.

Brace for impact!

Seriously, I thought it was a great episode, although Brooks acting does sometimes leave something to be desired.

I loved Brooks' acting. Very believable I thought and could really draw you in. Very intense. I did think the hyperventilating was a bit much, but...

And I don't understand why people think the idea for "Far Beyond The Stars" was a poor one. Trek always makes topical episodes with a futuristic spin, I thought this was just a more blatant take on it. But it was fresh and engrossing, and it DID fit in the context of the rest of the series. At that point, Sisko is tired of the war and is contemplating leaving, but the prophets need him to persevere, so they give him this vision that plays on something he would feel strongly about- racism in Earth's past- and teach him to never give up, despite obstacles. I didn't even really view the episode as that topical, just a kind of history lesson with a good message that was really different and unexpected and cool. I'm always really surprised at the flack this one takes sometimes.
