best FROZEN PIZZA

I think the problem was more the toppings than the crust, actually...the sauce and the cheese were revolting. Vile, vile stuff. The crust itself wasn't as thoroughly off-putting as those.

Only reason I ate that crap in the first place was because my stepmom bought it by mistake (she forgot that my dad and I had already ordered out for Super Bowl) and they wouldn't eat it, so I took it. Apparently they did not raise me with as much discretion as they thought. :p

I usually go with Stouffers french bread pizza. Red Baron is OK too. I have yet to try California Pizza Kitchen and we don't get Home Run Inn.

I love CPK. Their pizza is really good. My favorite of theirs is the BBQ kind.

And by that I mean the pizza you get *in their restaurants*. The frozen kind is way too expensive for what little you get.

That's definitely store-specific, as the sauce and cheese is made / grated in-house, at least according to people I know working at the three Dubuque, Iowa, Hy-Vee locations. (And it's true; the sauce on the pizzas from Asbury Road is a lot more bland than the sauce from Locust Street.)

You like Papa John's, though, so I'm not terribly inclined to put much credence into what you think is "crap," nor do I think you have "discretion." :p

Bleah. I ate one of those Hy-Vee pizzas last night (not frozen, but the kind that you take home and bake yourself). One of the worst pieces of #%)(*^# I've ever eaten. It literally made me sick to my stomach. Threw most of it away. Almost as bad as that St. Louis style pizza I had once in college.

So, now you're saying you don't like Imo's, either. Why not just piss on the Arch? :scream: ;) OK, I'll admit it's not the first thing I'd seek out on a trip back to St. Louis (that would be Ted Drewes), but I'd pay them a visit.

It's my experience that most frozen pizzas are best if you stick to thin crusts and few toppings. Frozen thick crust? Ugh.
And, I wouldn't expect any take-and-bake pizza to be good, either. Even Wegman's around here, with their reputation for high-quality prepared foods, have bad take-home pizzas.

I like the Aldi brand of frozen pizza
Mama Cozzi's I think it's called . . .

We had that tonight. Good stuff.

I've found that I normally crave sub-par frozen pizzas early in the morning, so if we have them, I'll usually pop a Mama Celeste's personal pizza in the oven or nuker, if I'm in a hurry, and call it breakfast.

I grown quite partial to the Hy-Vee store brand thin and crispy pizzas. They're like California Pizza Kitchen only a lot cheaper.

I miss Hy-Vee. Especially the helpful smile in every aisle.

I would shed no tears were the particular Hy-Vee I work at to burn to the ground. The management there have done every thing in their power to turn the place in to a miserable hole. Even the customers are starting to notice.

Sorry to hear that. I'll admit I haven't lived in Iowa for some years. In those times, Hy-Vee hadn't even expanded much across Iowa. My mom still shops at the one near where I grew up.
The best thing was that they always had most if not all checkout lanes open and the people were truly friendly. On that, they're the standard to which I compare all supermarkets to this day.
I truly do remember visiting one in my hometown five years ago and the workers stacking shelves in the aisles actually didn't just ignore me, but greeted me. When I asked one where something was, he walked me there.
Meh, just one more thing gone to hell, I guess.

Oh, that's still happening. It's just getting harder and harder at my particular store when the director is doing everything and anything to plunge employee morale straight into hell.

Our local Kroger is a pretty decent place. Their pizzas are pretty good, and I like the self rising crust ones. I haven't tried one of their in-store ready made pizzas from the Deli, but I might try that this week. Aside from that, the last remaining frozen pizza stronghold is California Pizza Kitchen. I may try them next week, if they go on sale of course, because they're really expensive.

I like the Frozen pizzas that Save-On-Foods makes (super market chain here in BC) other than those I normally buy Delissio rising crust pizza, their Pepperoni is really good.
