Since the original Best Captain discussion didn't have a poll, I took it upon myself to make one.

First off, Benjamin Sisko is the best captain for these reasons:

1) He is on the frontline of the Dominion War.
2) A messiah-like figure to an alien religion.
3) He trapped the Pah-wraith in the Bajoran Fire Caves.
4) He has a better backstory than the other captains.

Now who do you think is the best captain.

Pike. And once again he has been left out of the poll.

Its so annoying  But sense he is not there, my vote goes to The Sisko :techman:

Definately Sisko. He took the job because he expected a space station to be a stable place to raise his son, but situations that were thrown at him proved much more than he had bargained for. Still, he rose to every challenge and proved himself a strong leader, mediator, and father.

Picard is a close second for me since he is everything he should be in a captain. However, for him that is expected and it is why he is captain of the Federation flagship.

I'm also surprised to see Janeway so popular. I've never been a big Voyager fan though.

it's because of all the militant Janeway fans who joined up to bitch that she got killed off in a TNG novel in the Lit forum. they're like roaches.

it always used to be Sisko, Kirk, Picard.

There are just more women than there used to be. They are more likely to vote as a block (though not all of them will)

I'm not much of a Trek fan, I don't recall episodes etc but the concept of Gene's Trek always has a place in my heart
It started since the first time I watched TNG tv I grew up on syndicated TNG. Sisko was badass, Stewart was perhaps the best actor Trek ever had, I mean ever!
Kirk has a place in my heart for his drinking, womanizing, fighting etc Enterprise as a series I would really like to get into but the show had too many issues

Kathryn Janeway gets my vote because the concept was a seriously great, a top female icon. I'm not sure if it worked as good as it could have, they could have made her a bit more genuine, a bit more rough around the edges but I loved seeing an onscreen lead female role that acted not like Paris Hilton but like a real female leader.

Janeway gets my vote

Otherwise I vote for the Rommies all the way

So you admit to voting for her because she is a woman? :vulcan:

Well if we're going to be name calling here, if we're roaches then you're paramecium. At least we can survive a nuclear winter.

Hmm. I'm a woman, and it wouldn't have occurred to me to vote for someone only because of their gender. Janeway is probably last on my list.

I voted Janeway. Does that make me a Militant Roach as well? Why is the word "Militant" even being used?

Well, other than the main TV captains, what about the rest? Do they ever get a poll? Sulu, Crusher, Riker and Chakotay all made interesting captains in their own right.

Well I rather liked "Before Dishonor" (except for the 'Earth-sized Borg cube eats Pluto' thing, that sucked), and I don't see why any Janeway fan, militant or not, would be upset about her death. She died a great, heroic death, unlike James Kirk (or Trip Tucker FTM).
