With the delays in releases, I imagine they will wait until they know when all the episodes will be finished. Or at least wait for the halfway point. Chapter four comes out in October, is it will be a while before they reach the halfway point of episode 13/14.

I very much enjoyed these 4 episodes. The story is moving a a decent pace, the character motivations make sense and the animation is maintaining itself (IE no real use of still shots to 'cheat/save money'.)

I just wish they'd get around to English dubbing SBY Rebel 3199 like they did SBY 2199 and 2202, (I'd love to see SBY 2205 dubbed too), but yeah at this point I don't think that's gonna happen.)

I'm sure Sony/Crunchyroll paid a high license fee (and it's probably why it took so long to even get SBY 2205 on a Streaming Service outside of Japan); and I doubt it currently has a level of popularity in the U.S. (outside of really old/longtime Anime fans like me) for Sony to justify dubbing this latest installment nearly a decade after they dubbed SBY 2202.

IIRC, Funimation and Voyager Entertainment were responsible for the dubbing of 2199 and 2202 in western markets. Since neither of them seem to be around anymore, that’s probably why later dubs never happened. @Ithekro would probably know the details better than I do on that.

When Crunchyroll acquired Funimation and they merged - people were saying pretty much everyone working at Funimation was now working at Crunchyroll and a lot of the duplicate positions laid off were Cruchyroll people.

No clue how accurate that claim is - but many sites and known anime YouTubers were claiming the above.

Yeah I could see that. Companies eliminate redundant positions all the time after mergers. That, and the inevitable belt-tightening in general probably led to the decision not to invest in further dubbing of that particular franchise.

My family and I recently attended a rather large anime convention and the one thing I noticed, despite the rather respectable list of vendors, I saw not one single Yamato-related item there. It was all geared towards young Gen-Z and younger Gen-Alpha kids. Hardly anything from earlier eras, with the possible exception of a few Akira and Spirited Away posters scattered around. Dragonball Z, Pokemon, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia and other, more kiddie-oriented, franchises dominated the place.

So, it was kind of a depressing observation. I don’t really see legacy properties like Yamato really getting a fair shake at the anime market share anymore, especially in the western regions. It’s still quite popular in Japan, but over here, it doesn’t appear as if anyone sees it as a good return on investment, or anything other than a Gen-X memberberries nostalgia project, despite how amazingly evolved it’s become since its original 70’s/80’s incarnation.

It was pretty much a cameo in this latest round of episodes (Chapter 3). The Arizona is grounded in drydock, but the Earth resistence uses the ship's shock cannons from the Drydock facility (yes somehow the Drydock had LOS to the Alien 'Grand Reverse' facility) as a diversion to cover something covert operatives were doing in the facility as well as make it easier to make a direct attack at another location.

Minor ship tech update stuff.

According to the mecha designers, the Arizona has a length of 337 meters. Also, the side turret's barrels can elevate 90 degrees. Their barbette raises out of the enclosure meaning the thing is going to have a crazy wide fire arc of nearly the entire side hemisphere of the ship for each gun.

That's actually a smart thing to do when using the arguably ancient turret paradigm. Nice to hear their taking actual technological evolution into account with next-gen ships in this series. I hope we get to see her fly with Yamato at some point.

It would be nice if Bandai would put out a model for it. It was one of the few Series Three ships that I liked in its brief appearance back in the day.
