Be Forever Yamato REBEL 3199

I'm really enjoying it so far. I love how they include a lot of Easter eggs and nods to concepts that were part of the original idea for Yamato - and like that in effect with this story, they're saying: "Hey all the versions of SBY you've seen/read over the years actually did happen." ;)

Has an art book been planned for release for Rebel? They’ve done one for every season so far, but they seem to be getting smaller and smaller.

Well, looks like Crunchyroll got and put up Space Battleship Yamato: 2205 (it's an 8 episode story that took place between SBY 2202 and SBY Rebel 3199 and it's events are referenced in SBY Rebel 3199. Better late than never I guess.

(I'm still would love it if they decide to English Dub both SBY 2205 and 3199, but we'll see. At least those who never sailed the Internet high seas to watch SBY 2205 now have a chance to do so via legitimate means:

(Yeah, the episodes don't show any thumbnails yet, but if you click, they play. :))

I just noticed this, this morning. Glad to get to watch 2205.

The only thing that are missing now are the first two film. A Voyage to Remember (which is just a compilation of the first series) and Ark of the Stars.

Trailer for Chapter 3 with 4 more episodes (Premireing in Japan on 4/11/2025; and probably up on CrunchyRoll a week or so later):

Finally watched it. It isn't only an excellent recap, but it did a good job in terms of world binding.

Quite interesting the part about the two Mars independence wars. It explains how a united Earth had such a fleet to fight the Gamilas.
Just watched it myself last week and I agree it’s a great extra piece in the lore. I love how they explained how the original WWII Yamato was raised, rebuilt and re-sunk to show why it looked the way it did when Kodai found it in one piece. A bit of a clever retcon, considering that was how they envisioned it looked like when SBY was first released in 1974, but later the actual wreckage discovered in 1985, being split in half, partially capsized and in really bad shape. Brilliant way to clean up the loose ends.

It is time

I very much enjoyed these 4 episodes. The story is moving a a decent pace, the character motivations make sense and the animation is maintaining itself (IE no real use of still shots to 'cheat/save money'.)

I just wish they'd get around to English dubbing SBY Rebel 3199 like they did SBY 2199 and 2202, (I'd love to see SBY 2205 dubbed too), but yeah at this point I don't think that's gonna happen.)

I'm sure Sony/Crunchyroll paid a high license fee (and it's probably why it took so long to even get SBY 2205 on a Streaming Service outside of Japan); and I doubt it currently has a level of popularity in the U.S. (outside of really old/longtime Anime fans like me) for Sony to justify dubbing this latest installment nearly a decade after they dubbed SBY 2202.
