Alice knows Kate's secret identity. She doesn't need to defeat the bat-suit, if her objective is to kill Batwoman. Plus, the bat-suit hasn't protected Kate from her own mistakes, even from villains without the secret knowledge. So, it's not meshing well now. Maybe later it will get good again.

Another thing to remember - the book was written while Bruce Wayne was bearing the batsuit so it would have been about bringing him down.

That Kate wears the same suit and uses the same techniques means it will also work for her.

Almost 10 years later, someone else should have invented the same technology, and another someone else has had time to make a counter measure.

It seems weird because as far as I know there hasn't been a concerted effort to defeat Batwoman. Outside of a few thugs trying to save their own hides who has been trying and failing? A few episodes back Kate just up and walked into Alice's lair to have a tete-a-tete. Though maybe the suit does have Kryptonian or otherwise origins seeing that bullets have zero kinetic impact. Kate doesn't even flinch when being shot.

As stated before, Lucius Fox's journals were about the suit he built for Batman, which Luke adapted for Kate's use after Lucius died. And apparently Lucius also figured out a way to defeat his own Batsuit in case Batman ever went rogue, or in case a villain stole it, or something. And I'm sure there were plenty of efforts to kill Batman, which is why he hid the secret so well.

Mouse (or Hush?) specifically asked Alice that -- why not just shoot her? If she were a rational actor, she'd hire a sniper to shoot Kate or something. But she doesn't just want to kill Kate, she wants to destroy Batwoman. The former Beth Kane has adopted a new identity as Alice, so Alice's target is Kate's new identity of Batwoman, not merely Kate herself. It's like how the Joker doesn't really care who Batman is under the mask because it's Batman he sees as his rival and playmate.

I agree it is a pretty contrived plot point -- and a bit contradictory to say the Batsuit is devoid of weaknesses just a week after showing that the cowl could potentially be removed just by pulling hard enough on the wig (pretty bad idea to make the cowl a separate piece). But at least they've acknowledged that Alice's irrational obsession is a factor.

The question I was addressing is how Oliver obtained the kryptonite he had in Crisis on Earth-X two years ago.

I don't think the journal is about killing Kate or Batwoman specifically as it was written years ago. It was said it was about killing The Bat. That leaves a couple of possibilities. The batsuit mentioned by several posters, but it could also mean killing what The Bat stands for as a hero to Gotham. Batman would have had a friendship with Superman the same way that Kate is developing a friendship with Kara. Perhaps the idea is to stage an attack on Supergirl and frame Batwoman.

I considered that, but that started to seem like one of the Coyote's convoluted plans to capture the Road Runner.

Just because the El's died on Krypton, or never went public on Earth 1, Krypton still exploded, and shat Kryptonite at FTL speeds all across the universe.

Stellar and Geoplogical events remain constant cross universe, unless their are some heavy hitters on the board moving pieces, like Brainiac collecting the wrong planets.

Hmm. I'm surprised they're not building more on the Batwoman/Supergirl friendship they set up as the replacement for Barry/Oliver. But I suppose I can see the logic of highlighting their two newest shows in the crossover. And of course Kara could be one of those characters from other shows.

Since the starts of next seasons have all been pushed to January (at the earliest) they're likely to be way shorter than usual and with some shows having to use an episode or two to finish this season's storylines there wouldn't be much room to do a giant crossover even if they wanted to do one.

Sounds like an interesting combo to do a two-parter. Looking forward to it.

When I first heard the Kryptonite mention in the last episode, I thought that they might be angling toward a "Hush" adaptation with Batwoman & Supergirl in the place of Batman & Superman, respectively; with the Kryptonite being used by Poison Ivy to control Supergirl and take down Batwoman. Then I remembered that Poison Ivy hasn't been introduced yet in the Arrowverse and Benoist's pregnancy would preclude her involvement in such a storyline for the foreseeable future.

With the announcement today about next season's small scale crossover, maybe they could still do a version of this story with the Arrowverse Superman & Batwoman and a (new to the Arrowverse) Poison Ivy or a Poison Ivy-type character that could perform a similar function in the story. Obviously, they already have Hush.

I speculate that the mini-crossover may have originally intended to feature only Supergirl & Batwoman and firmly establish them as the Arrowverse "World's Finest" team, but Benoist's pregnancy probably shifted that sort of plan to a Superman & Lois/Batwoman crossover instead. If so, I certainly would've preferred to see Kate and Kara facing off rather than Clark.

At least the crossover should give Superman & Lois (the new show on the block) a ratings boost next season, so perhaps that was the plan from the jump.
